This will show how sad I am but I kept following the lead thro so Ill pass it on. ( All of the trail is 'allegedly' because I haven't physically checked these details.
I was on a Jeep forum ( dont ask why ) when I found out that the Jeep AX5 trasmission has the same bolt pattern on the face of the transmission as the w58 box in the Excel ( Aisin Warner manufactured ). I then found out that a derivative of this transmission is fitted to the Suzuki Vitara v6 2.5 litre, with a tranfer box fitted to the back. ( I'll bet you are wondering where Im going with this ). The Suzuki v6 is a derivative of the Mazda KL-ZE V6, which is fitted to the Mazda Mx6 and the V6 Ford Probe. Therefore, allegedly, the Ford Probe engine can be bolted to a Suzuki V6 bellhousing, which will then bolt up to the Excel gearbox.
The V6 Mazda engine is supposed to be bullit proof, and with the cats missing and a free flowing exhaust and air filter, is said to produce another 20hp over the standard output of 170hp.
So...a fuel efficeint, smooth, bullit proof, modern v6, might, allegedly, be a simple bolt in job. Although I would want a full MX6/probe car for the electronics.

Before I get any flack....Im not going to do this...and... if anybody else wants to do this to THIER car....good luck !

You heard it here first

Bash ( saddo )

why not add a super charger for good measure?

im going to honda S2000 my excel why the engine finally dies... probably with a rotrex kit... should be good for a reliable 350bhp, or a not so reliable 400bhp without much else than pistons, rods, supercharger, cams, and a few other little bits...

the gearbox seems to fit in the space, and the diff on the excel is the same as the diff in an S2000 (4.1:1) so gearing should be fine. the S2000 engine is also about 30kgs lighter than the excel 912... happy days...

totally stock its 230bhp, with the same torque as the 912, oh and should be good for between 35 and 45 mpg.
