Re: wiper module repair
Join the club! Mine was the one with the sticker on. I bought a ‘guaranteed’ one from Lotusbits (no sticker) which didn’t work either. I spent 2 days (and several cheap Chinese switches) trying to replace the position sensor on the wiper motor and gave up. I rang Pektron who said the original compan...

Re: Vacuum take off pipes on carbs
Thanks Peter. The two stubs on the actuated valve are different. One is ‘full bore’, the other is reduced to a pinhole. I’ve connected them with the pipes crossed as shown in your diagram. We will see what happens. (Probably nothing, as they look to have been disconnected for ‘some time’ :D ) Cheers...

Re: Unlucky....or Lucky?
If i were you I'd be going round the whole of the car now, looking at any and all safety aspects. Not great but as you state, lucky that you found those when you did and not as they failed when driving. I thought I had! This was the pipe across the top of the front cross member. Quite tricky to see...

This was on the front, on possibly the original pads! I was brave (or stupid) enough to drive it 1000 miles home before a full check...

Unlucky....or Lucky?
When I bought my Excel 2 years ago I was assured it was 'not messed around with', 'the property of a former L***s engineer' and 'had the clutch done 5 years ago'. Well, some of the above was true. It wasn't messed around with much, and the previous owner had worked for L***s. Overhauling the brakes ...

Re: Fuel pump replacment
New pump arrive next day. Actually it did me a favour. When I took the brass unions off, the rubber O-ring on the delivery side had perished to the point of not being there, and both unions were loose.....

Re: Fuel pump replacment
A word of caution on the Burlen fuel pump conversion. (The one which replaces the points by a solid state trigger). I bought mine at Christmas and only just got round to fitting it. After reading the instructions, there is a word of caution if the pump has two black wires inside (something along the...

What is it about New Year which makes folks want to dismantle Lotus suspensions?
Thanks for the tip about access via the pods. I was about to remove the radiator!

Re: Headlights won't go down
Hi Everybody I've got a 1990 SE, and on the way to Loutusbits today the headlights stayed up. What better place to fix them? Anyway Mike and I tried new control and pod motor relays, new column switch, disconnecting one and and then both motors, and of course checking the two fuses next to the relay...
