I am not happy having to make this decision after 12 years of ownership. However, it seems as if my back is forcing the issue, as much as I am trying to resist it.

I take your point. Have had car for past 12 years and had things done over time, eg respray, new headlining, windscreen etc. Not had much use due to illness and covid and now my back is giving up the ghost....must be an age thing.

Sorry, I have just read your post. I am afraid that the trims were sent straight to the spayers so I didn't see them. If you ring SJ Sportscars and explain what you are looking for then they should be able to help, or alternatively Lotus Bits.

I had my Excel completely resprayed with new trims etc and that cost in the order of £5,000

It looks as if I may have to sadly sell my 86 Excel SE due to ongoing back problems with the offset seating position making it worse. I was enquiring as to how much I should sell her for? Sorry Alan, yes the majority have plastic or plastic type covers which would cause condensation which is no good for me, this is why I am struggling to find a suitable cover.

Many thanks Alan, I have looked at the cocoon system which seems very good. The problem for me is that the car is parked on the front drive and there is no external power socket and cables would have to pass through the kitchen window and across the floor, so I am a little restricted.

I was wondering if someone can recommend an external breathable car cover that has a frame like a pram that keeps the cover away from the car?

Just an update on the classic car insurance, we have decided to go with Lancaster insurers as they are able to provide the most suitable insurance for our needs.

I have just received my up to date Valuation for my Excel: it is £13,500

I hav to say I am very happy with this.

Club Lotus were superb people to talk to and were very helpful and prompt
