Re: Scrapping
It was a sad day indeed when i crashed it, I was hoping to get it painted this year and finish some other jobs, had my whole year mapped out aswell and had already spent over 2 years busting my gut trying to sort everything. Still glad i bought it and got to enjoy it for a year, the plan was to keep...

Re: Recaro seats
Got the drivers seat fitted today in half the time it took fitting the 1st one. What a difference they make to driving the car, a lot more hold in the corners at speed. Very pleased with the outcome and the decision to fit them. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f25/Silent-78/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20...

Re: Recaro seats
Seem to be fine, moving back and forth fine with enough room to get an adult in the back. I took them in an inch from the inside runner for better clearance. I was able to use the runners they came with and just drilled two 8 mil holes 13 inches apart. Fair bit of work but worth it. If it's dry tomo...

Recaro seats
Finally made a start on fitting my new seats today. I managed to get hold of a set of old recaro seats that would have been in a 1990's Vauxhall and they are that minted they look like they are brand new. Took a few hours and had to mount them using some mild steel flat bar due to the seat runners b...

Re: Which engine
I know what you mean, I had been a bit like that with mine when i got it at first, problem for me is my daily driver is a seat leon FR 1.8 20v turbo and that has 180 bhp. It feels way faster than my Excel but i understand that's because it has a turbo and is a totally different car. I read some post...

Re: Door rebuild, beams hinges, frame and window channel lif
One thing I would add is if your fitting a new beam and you have a tap and die set then maybe spent the time using the m6 tap and do all the holes to clear out any powder coating in them. Probably been mentioned before, makes life a lot easier. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f25/Silent-78/Mobile%...

Re: Door rebuild, beams hinges, frame and window channel lif
As Stu said pins are wasted and can't be knocked through, if only removing one hinge I would be inclined to go with the bottom one as it's easier to access the bolts. Specially if you are on your own. I got mine pretty much finished yesterday, just need to seal round the quarter light and put the do...

Re: Door rebuild, beams hinges, frame and window channel lif
I took loads of pictures,
The beams back off, it was only balanced in place, I still need to reattach the nuts on the top bolts but ran out of time. I'm going to fit it tomorrow when I have an extra pair of hands.

Door rebuild, beams hinges, frame and window channel lifted
Finally started rebuilding my drivers side door and it's been a tough job but getting there. I'm about 12 hours in and only starting to put it back together now, everything was rotten and most of the time has been taken up drilling out bolts and cutting the rotten window channel lifter off. But I've...
Re: Oil Cap
Mines appears to be missing this o ring. I'll try replacing it 1st and see if that sorts it. Thank you Angus for taking the time to upload some pictures. You can see mine compared with yours and there is no o-ring. Mystery solved.
Re: Oil Cap
I think its just the cap has seen better days,
Does your cap have a rubber seal on it Angus? Just out of curiosity.

Oil Cap
Still having issues with oil escaping out my oil cap,
I don't think its tightening up enough, the ratchet effect is possibly kicking in to soon. Does anyone have a spare one floating about they are willing to part with before i try getting one from Lotus bits.
