Looking back, we've been meeting around 8:15 at Tesco's (LE10 0PR) , leaving for the short drive in at 8:30.
Thinking we've got a dog sitter for the day, so hopefully Clare will be along for the first time.

Re: power steering leak
Picture not showing on my phone, but biggest issue I had was bi-metallicl corrosion where the pipe goes in to the rack.
No way would pipe come out of rack.
Hopefully it's free and a new o ring sorts you

Re: Interior and door lights
It can be done without removing anything. Double jointed wrists plus Lotus position and a lot of patience. How does you get to the passenger side coutesy light switch
The back comes out of the glove box with only 4 screws. Not sure if it will help, but just might.

Great to see another restoration thread Martin.
Besides being a good reference for all in the future, it's useful in recording when work is done / history of your car.
Like many on here, huge workshop envy.

Re: Hinckley Classic Car Show 21st Sept 2025.
Email arrived over the weekend with entry pass for LGT group.
Suggest we meet again in the Tesco car park as previous years - Seems to work quite well.
Sort timing out nearer the time.

Re: Side Markers
The car video KevW posted today of the car in Ireland has Side repeaters and is a very early car (1983) and doesn't look to have been messed with.
Maybe side repeaters were factory fitted to some cars depending on destination.?

Re: New member - Excel SA
If your window frames have needed some TLC, I'd suggest testing the movement of the glass in the channel early on. Just fitting glass and moving by hand better than nothing, but ideal if you could fit motor and run under power. When I changed my door beam, I had one hell of a job getting the glass ...

Re: New member - Excel SA
I will adjust where necessary to ensure a better line-up - should I be aiming to seal exactly along the window frame?
Your frame is definitely sitting too high. Looks to me like if the A post external finisher was fitted, you'd have another clash.

decided to go with the 123 fully electronic system.
Sounds a good move, especially as you are short on standard parts in Europe to swop about with.
I was very tempted to go this route a year or so ago when I had intermittent issues I was sure were spark related.

Re: 1985 Excel (non-SE) cranking but no longer starting
Sounds to me that this is nothing to do with the new leads and dizzy cap. OP says in first post "it wasn't running right before".
Alan posted a Lucas diagnostic link earlier. Check especially the resistance of the hall sensor in the dizzy getting to the AB14 ( around 200 K ohms IIRC). Wriggle the ...

Absolute Lotus hat trick
Congratulations to Andy on achieving the hat trick of cars profiled in the AL magazine.
You've put that Elan through the mill a bit though
. Seems it's earned a gentle retirement.
