Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!
Below cribbed from a thread titled " Low RPM hesitation" from a few years ago. - Another great post from Tim Engel - Hope he doesn't mind me copying forward. This sort of gold dust can't be posted too often IMHO. In an older engine, time can take it's toll on every component and make all the above s...

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!
Steering now sorted and I have another 12 Months MOT with no advisories :D - Every year though I get a comment that "technically" the emissions are a bit high, but the tester is of the belief that the 912 engine performs better a little rich, so why should I argue. Car has never been great on fuel e...

Re: Carb Balancing
Great timing to this thread and thanks to Tim for great document on How to. I'd been wondering about ports on the later F pipes carbs, but was answered by Tim. Unplug the F pipes. I've been playing today with 4 vacuum gauges from back in my motorcycling days. I'm balanced across pots using the bypas...

One more stat for those out there who don't know what your left leg is for : 22 SA's in MY86 and 5 SA's in MY89 Excels. Tony, Curve ball, my Nov 86 SA (no 3) is I believe an MY 87! I need to break the MY 86 data down into at least 1 more group. Currently it has everything between MY86 & MY 89 so is...

912 HC Power curve
I'm looking for power curves ( torque and HP) for the late 2.2 HC engine ( Spec 10 ) but can't find anything. The only thing I found looked so linear and perfect it couldn't be correct and said something about an approximation ( automobile-catalog.com) I have a curve from my engine taken about 8 yea...

Re: 1985 2.2LC
Some great information in that post Tim. Thanks. Seems the AB14 gets blamed for a lot of issues, but generally they do seem quite reliable. Great to know whats inside though and how easy a reconditioning could be. So it is easy to find by search, the info really needs to be under a title " AB 14 rec...

Re: Club polo shirts, fleeces etc.
Just looked at a couple of logo shirts I have and it's common for the logo to sit quite high. - bottom of logo in line with bottom of buttons.
I'd be quite happy either lotus badge top or bottom. Agree www is not critical if it makes things easier.

Re: Club polo shirts, fleeces etc.
I like the web lettering and think it should stay but think the logo is sitting too high on the latest picture posted. ESPRIT can't go any lower I agree, but how about dropping the lotus logo to the bottom, so creating an upside down triangle ? As pointed out, ESPRIT is "worst" case. Other variants ...

Re: F Pipes splitting within a year?
My guess Is these F pipes, although 'new' were manufactured MANY years ago and have been on a shelf. Material has started to degrade, hence not really fit for purpose any more. I have the same set up as Bryan, which cost pennies and lasts for ever. Bit of a dilemma though if your seeking total origi...

Re: Torque settings - airbox nuts?
My car has Nylock nuts and don't need to be over tight.
I just put an 8mm socket on a 1/4 " UJ, then a screw driver handle drive. Being Nylock, hand tight is plenty.

Re: Starter? Motor running on.
Been thinking. If it was the starter motor, why wasn't the gear thrown out to the fly wheel? Unless I have two problems?

Starter? Motor running on.
An intermittent issue today. Cold start, bit reluctant to fire. Holding key in crank position for maybe 5 seconds, but when key released, I could still hear a motor running in engine bay. Engine not yet running, and not being cranked, just a motor running. I THINK it was the starter motor. Switched ...
