In honesty once everything was disconnected it wasnt too bad a job and at least there is plenty of room under the bonnet to get it well forward. Some of the connections underneath are a sod to ...

Re: New project excel 2.2 and engine HC engine rebuild
Hi Mathat, I'm undertaking a similar father/son Excel project and we are in the process of lifting the engine out at the moment. Can I just ask how easy you found it disengaging the gearbox end from the propshaft. Ours seems reluctant to part at the moment and I wondered if you had any tips. Thanks,...

engine removal 84 excel
We are just about ready to remove engine and gearbox together from our excel. Has anyone got any advice on how far forward we have to bring the whole unit before the driveshaft splines disengage as that seems to be the only thing holding it all back at the mo. We are working with the front raised as...

Thanks for the advice. Its a manual box. I must admit without seeing Roberts pics I would have been nervous to hang it on the alloy! I'll take it slowly.

removing engine
I'm about to pull the engine out of my 84 excel in the next couple of weeks. It would be great to get some advice on where to strap the engine for the lift and how best to tilt it backwards enough to get the gearbox clear and out. Cheers, jim
