Excel Repairs London

Hi I have resigned myself to the fact that I need to get my door fixed at a garage, as it is beyond my capabilities. I managed to get my passenger side door closing properly, by checking the set-up and comparing it with the drivers door. Sadly in doing so my drivers side is now jammed shut!!! Cuttin...

Re: Petrol Smell

I found where petrol smell is coming from!!! The good news is I didnt have to remove the back bumper and take out the tank. The bad news (or potential bad news) is that it's a pump in the rear, above the tank, that is causing the problem. I came across it by accident when taking out some shopping. T...

Re: Replacing Carpet and roof covering

That's the weird and interestingg thing. In the past it used to end up with literally a pool of water underneath the driver side feet (and then other times the front passenger feet). Admittedly I did drop a small hole on either side to drain the water and prevent the build up. But I am not convinced...

Re: Replacing Carpet and roof covering

The alternative roof paneling idea is genius!!! I have had a leak on and off over the past couple of years, and every time i take it to get looked at, the garage cannot locate it. Because the car has had 8 to 12 month periods where it is off the road, it gets damp and mouldy. I may try the deep clea...

Replacing Carpet and roof covering

Hi I have mould issues with the old girl, and as an asthmatic just a short drive is killing me! I think I'm going to change the carpet and roofing, and am thinking of going DIY. Does anyone have me any tips at all on the best way of getting a good job done? Will I need to take out the seats, and the...

Re: Water in footwells

In my experience water enters the front foot wells via the door seals. I've discovered even genuine, expensive Lotus seals quickly become compressed, losing their circular cross section shape and "bounce". This happened on both my Excels. The seals can look as if they are in perfect condition but s...

Re: Petrol Smell

The service parts list show and describe a fuel tank breather (small "plastic" pipe) which runs from the filler neck and includes an anti surge valve set into it close to the filler neck. Typically it does not show where it runs to but I know the plastic tube on my car exits in the centre of the bu...

Re: Wiring Diagram

I actually don't have any documents.

Can you tell me where I can purchase one, and if it has full diagrams on the wiring?

Thank you

Under Body Mount Repair

So I have an under body mount repair job for my increasingly costly car, before it can go through its MOT. I paid one garage to do it, and they bodged it, and have refused to put it right. Although they have been generous enough to offer me my money back! I'm now in need of a recommendation for this...

Re: Suspensions Alternatives

I see. In that case I will just go via Lotus Bits.

I wasn't sure if they were available in stores from a different car.

Re: Suspensions Alternatives

Thanks for the tip.

Would I just buy shocks for the car from any supplier?

Is there a specific other car with the same shocks that I would ask for instead, or do I just ask for lotus excel shocks?
