Re: I can hear the sea (aircon funnies)
I see this topic is many years old but did you ever resolve it? I have exactly the same problem and the boss is less than impressed by getting her feet doused with very cold water every 15-20 minutes or so. My observations - hot day, AC running, build up of condensate and then on a bend (to the righ...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Doubtless it would mean more gear changes but a new generation box would change more smoothly. It would also kick down more easily (I know this is adjustable anyway) and it would also make it much easier to keep in the power band if that was what you wanted and it would probably make it more economi...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Indeed, very underrated. On the plus side I think my engine (original and now with 145,000 miles) is still smooth as silk, with solid oil pressure - something I’m sure is because the auto doesn’t rev as aggressively and/or autos aren’t bought by people that want to hit the red line everywhere! It’s ...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
What's next? Drive it!!
I have (almost) finished the job list I gave myself when I bought it in the summer. Aside from repainting the cam covers I'm all done! So, until something breaks ..... drive it!

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Thanks to all, especially Hawaiis0 for the advice. All sorted. Final part of the conundrum solved this morning when by bypassing the horn switch and getting a longed for "toot" it meant that the culprit for the horn was the switch. Popped this out of the steering wheel and did another bypass from fr...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Thanks Tony. I know the horn was working as whilst fixing other stuff inside the car I managed to sound it a couple of times (usually due to grabbing the wheel to haul myself out of the footwell). It was only when I'd "finished" and decided to do that "let's just check that everything electric is no...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Looking at the wiring diagram for the Horn circuit, given that I know I have power to the relay and power on the Purple Black wire (at least as far as the connector block under the steering column) then next must be to check whether i have power on the purple/yellow wire to compressor. If I do then ...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Fantastic. Thanks. Following your advice I was about to put the multimeter on the back of the rear fog switch and test the output from connector 2 when I noticed that there wasn't a Red/Yellow wire. Closer inspection revealed that the connector for this switch had been swapped with the one for the H...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I've spent a couple of hours with a multi-meter this morning and have worked through these suggestions. 1. All the central dash switches (Ice warning - it was handily cold this morning), HRS, Front & Rear Fog lamps all light up and I've visually checked that these ...

Re: Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Sadly I don't think that cracks it. Fuse 24 is fine (I'd already checked it, but did a double check this morning). The cigar lighter also seems fine. The fuse is working and the socket charges my 'phone without a problem so I can't see that it could be shorting. Bu...

Rear Fog lights / Horn not working
So both these parts were working fine until I fixed a faulty instrument panel lighting issue a few weeks back - turned out the wiring had been pulled off the back of the rheostat when I'd installed a new head unit a few weeks before that. So, logically I disturbed something in that process as neithe...

Re: Instrument lights
So thanks for the tips. After extensive dismantling of the trim I eventually got to the back of the rheostat. It turns out that the rheostat itself had pulled apart. I suspect this happened when I installed a new head unit a couple of months ago. As I’d not used the car in low light I’d simply not n...
