Re: Excel Restoration by Neil Donaldson on Youtube.
I am really enjoying what Neil is doing as I am following along behind, although I am still on step 1. preparing to to remove the engine.
I have so much to do and really worried about parts supply on my 1975 Elite.
I just hope there will be some parts left for my Elite.
cheers

Re: Jacking with a scissor lift
my Elite had a very old scissor lift in it the type you screw and the thread pulls the ends together, I thought this was original to the 1974 Elite. Did the Excel have a different design I wonder.

Re: Jacking with a scissor lift
Please be carefull with a 50 year old scissor lift as my original scissor lift folded up and I was lucky no damage occured. It is nice to have but the scissor just was too old to handle a car now.
shame; but I now use an EBAY scissor lift as at least it is new and strong
cheers

Hi TAR, Thank you, if you can advise me, are these all spanner, spanner both ends, spanner and socket or am I looking at mole grips. etc... The reason I ask is to be prepared with the right tools I have never removed a fibre glass body from a steel chassis in my life so I have no idea and probably a...

Re: Elite 1974 - Rust hole - What would you do !
Hi Dave, A really good idea, well loads of good ideas. The YouTuber I know well, he is in Ireland and has really gone to town with NO budget, but beg and borrow he manages to survive. I had this idea too, to get a FAB welder to plate the chassis, but Miles felt a JIG was an absolute requirement, I t...

Re: Elite 1974 - Rust hole - What would you do !
Thank you all for your support. Nobody told me to scrap and break. I had a visit from the well known expert Miles Wilkins who lives nearby and has been working with Lotus since easily the 70's and maybe even the 60's. He said break it many times, he said it would be a mammoth effort with great cost ...

Re: Elite 1974 - Rust hole - What would you do !
i really do want to keep the single suspension arm for the rear as it is a feature I love. How much in ££ is it to lift off a body, get a welder to restore and then put body back on. Seems easy to me but I have no lift and no room to split a body and a chassis at the moment.
