Re: Kumho Ecsta AST

I had originally shortlisted five different tyres and narrowed it down to the kumho hs51 ecsta. I chose the 205 variant for two reasons: 1) I was concerned of the additional load put on the power steering pump by a wider profile tyre 2) while my wheels aren't damaged I did not consider them concours...

Re: Kumho Ecsta AST

Hi guys, I'm very curious about this post because from what I can see since approximately 2010 every discussion regarding tyre sizes pretty much across all forums has stated that a 225 width tyre will always foul on the inner wing and yet we have two instances here where 225s have fitted perfectly. ...

Rather late to this chat (as usual), but does anyone have a proven seal that works, currently?

- Cheers, in advance!

Re: Exhaust-modify or not?

I'm thinking I will probably order the LB system next week. It's around a 10 week wait (from order & payment) for the exhaust to be made up, which is a bit annoying. - I spoke to Mike Taylor and he said that they had (I believe) a couple of systems coming into stock in the next week or so.Might be ...

Re: Exhaust-modify or not?

Hi Phil, - yes, I was told that it was boomy on the motorway but I have spoken to Lotusbits directly and they have told me that there is a resonance around 2k to 2.2k rpm and thats it. Louder yes, boomy no. The front box is disintegrating on my car and I was hoping that I might be able to take a mod...

Re: Exhaust-modify or not?

Thanks Tony, I noticed with Classic Team Lotus they offered two versions of the exhaust (in simple layman terms) what is the difference between the two: Peco & Grundy? I have heard the Classic Team Lotus and SJS source their exhausts from the same company and their flanges and some of their pipes ar...

Re: Exhaust-modify or not?

Hi Guys, I am very interested to hear the views of the people in this post (or anyone else) who have had a new system fitted and have lived with it for a while. Does it still sound the same and are your thoughts unchanged from your original posts, over two years ago? When I used to fit new SS exhaus...

Re: 215/50r15 back in production

Has anyone had experience of fitting both Vredestein Sprint+ 215/50ZR15 88W and 215/50 VR 15 PIRELLI P700-Z ? The Pirelli compound was an original design circa 1988 (which the cars handling was set up on) I wonder whether the Vredestein compound behaves more favorably utilising the latest compound t...

"I wouldn't get too fixated about Service History as whether it had a stamp in the book in 2003 is a bit irrelevant today." I totally agree with you but the point I was trying to make was if you are going to pay a premium for it being a low mileage car and then you find it has done 60-100k more the...

Re: Last one (allegedly)

Quite a lot of the cars I'm coming across at the moment are not being sold by what I call "Lotus enthusiasts" :( ......or even decent human beings  The guys on here will no doubt help you along the way - I am still learning the car, so not the best person to be asking about tips tricks and th...

Re: Last one (allegedly)

Hello Dwayne, Welcome to the Lotus Grand Tourers. I am very sorry to hear about the odometer problem. From my experience of viewing the Excel over the years, I have found a very high number of cars which have suffered odometer failures. Sadly these cars have not been the most loved amongst the...
