Re: Representing the third generation….
The responses are in this thread. In addition this was discussed on our club Zoom call and with the club committee, both of which were supportive of the proposal. The summary above addresses the concerns expressed. Cheers, Richard For the record - I think there were 7 responses in favour, 2 undecid...

Re: Representing the third generation….
Out of interest, what were the numbers of responses "in favour" and "opposed" to this proposal? Or was it just an executive decision?

Re: Representing the third generation….
Nothing against Esprits, still aspire to one, etc etc. but I'm firmly against the idea. Plenty of online places for the Esprit owners to discuss things and I fear this almost-unique forum would get diluted by Esprit-talk.

Re: Celebration being auctioned.
In all the years I've owned an Excel I've observed: a) universal comments that the Excel is undervalued and b) when one sells for a strong price, there are accompanying comments saying "it's not worth that much".
Of course, the two viewpoints may both be valid.

Re: Excel (and Lotus) magazine scans
Here's a short (4-page) road test on the Celebration model, from Performance Car magazine, August 1991, plus 2 pages of superficial Lotus history. Must be one of the last magazine tests before end of production of the Excel? https://www.dropbox.com/s/ks462asvmqkshzm/Lotus%20Excel%20Celebration_Augus...

Re: Value your Excel if you dare!
Been on this forum for almost 15 years (others will be even longer) and I know from gut feel that Excel (and Elite) prices are higher these days, especially for the rarer, low mileage, well-maintained, lotsofhistory ones. The basket cases can be obtained for a few thousand (hundreds?), as they alway...

Yes, new brushes, cheap part, and basically give the motor & its mechanism a good overhaul.

There is a step-by-step set of photos I took here, if the link on the awkward Photobucket site still works for you:

(Take the steering wheel off though).

Re: Remove wiper motor
When you see old links with "phpbb" in the middle, you need to remove the phpbb bit; then the link will work. So for example, https://www.lotusexcel.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3172&hilit=wiper+motor+removal won't work, but https://www.lotusexcel.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3172&hilit=wiper+motor+remo...
