Re: Changing Clutch - the most awkward way?

I just pulled the Engine once... well, there are Cars where this is more of a hassle, but I can imagine things that are more fun... like driving  Just out of curiosity: Everywhere you look, there are only a few Centimeters missing for just simply unbolting the Tranny and getting it out of the E...

Re: Exhaust-modify or not?

Generally speaking, Stainless Steel is a very hard material, that doesn´t soak up high pitch Noise. That generates a kind of "Trumpet Sound" at high revs, but it doen´t sound very well at low revs. Mild Steel is comparatively soft, so it absorbs high pitch Noise, which results in a more bassy growl ...

Changing Clutch - the most awkward way?

Hi again. I hope, everyone is doing fine and driving well :D I recently changed the Clutch of my Excel... and I can´t shake the feeling, that the are easier ways to do that than mine... Soooo... first, I unbolted the Diff except the Axles - and pushed it back. Then I hooked up the Engine to a Lift, ...

Re: Diff and driveshafts

I´ve just got an Idea for the 3mm-Endplay-Problem, but that sure would be a hassle... What about a 2,9something mm thick Cylinder, that will slip over the Spider-Gear-Shaft. That would keep the Axles in Position and would hinder the Axles from moving inward. Fitting that Cylinder in Place while push...

Re: Diff and driveshafts

Well, that is not a doable Alternative. I´ve got 205/60/14 Tires. 205/70/14 would be the absolute safe Maximum, and that would only generate 7 kph plus @ 3krpm - 102.3 kph with 205/60 and 109.3 kph with 205/70.
Hmmm... I really wonder what all those Supra-Tuners do...

Re: Diff and driveshafts

Oh... and I thought, that a Company as big as Toyota would generate a big Aftermarket... I wonder, what all those Supra-Enthusiasts are doing...
Hmmm... there is still a little bit Room for Tires with a slightly bigger Diameter... I´ll do some Measurements...

Re: Diff and driveshafts

Btw: Are there Ring & Pinion Sets with a lower Gear-Ratio? When driving on the Autobahn at normal Speed in Top Gear, the Engine revs at bit high with the standard Diff... isn´t it from some Toyota Supra or so?

Re: Excel - My new daily Driver

The Picture is a little bit deceptive, optically: What looks like a Top Strut Brace is just the Part of the Bonnet-Lid, where the Hinges are bolted onto. Air-Tank? Do you refer to this semi-transparent, white/beige Container? That´s just the Solvent-Reservoire of the Windshield-Cleaner. I merely ins...

Re: Excel - My new daily Driver

Hah! I finally got a simple Idea how to post pics which everyone can see: https://www.autoscout24.de/angebote/-874d5136-9ed6-4885-b3c7-976563c15629 LOL I typed in an astronomical Price because I don´t want to sell it anyway. The HP is just a wild guess - still haven´t measured it. You can also see t...

Re: Cooler Engine through loud Exhaust

I haven´t made Pictures of the Exhaust, yet, but we´ll be making some Car-Videos, soon, and we will lift them up and plan to talk tech a lot... in german, but I doubt that I can tell you something new, anyway, so in case of the Excel that wouldn´t matter much. As for the cooler Engine: The Effect is...

Cooler Engine through loud Exhaust

Hi again. I just want to inform you about an Observation I´ve made: After replacing the original rear Mufflers by a pair of 2.5" Cherry Bombs, the engine not only sounds cooler, but runs cooler as well. The Temp-Gauge hasn´t risen past 92°C yet (haven´t had any traffic-jams so far) and the Fans were...

Re: Cylinder Head flatness and roughness

Outch... I guess I was very lucky, then, because I just cleaned the Surfaces and bolted everything back together again. I thought: Hey, that´s just soft Aluminium. It will surely bend it´s Way back in Place as soon as I tighten the Bolts. When I read all this I would have brought Head and Block to t...

Re: Bubbles in the coolant tank, blown head gasket?

I simply went with the 75 lbs for the inner 6 and 70 lbs for the outer - same Torque as recommended for the normal Goertz (Goetze? Gruetze? whatever, you know what I mean). I used the stock Studs and Nuts. 3 Steps with 30 minutes Interval and after 24 h´s half a Turn back and retighten. The 24...
