Re: Introducing / Reintroducing Myself

Hi Mike - good introduction! I've an Excel, in bits at the moment, but with other stuff (ill wife) taking precedent at the moment. I think there's a great community spirit on here - when you've got a problem people on here either have the direct knowledge to answer or have excellent ideas for ways o...

Re: New member - new owner

Hi everyone

My wife is extremely ill (cancer) at the moment; life (and thus the Lotus) is all on hold, whilst we put all our energies into her treatment and recovery. I continue to try to get some time on 'Doug' but understandably, life/kids/cookig/household/etc etc takes priority.

Waterpump dismantle tips?

How everyone - how do you dismantle the waterpump so I can change it using the kit. Mine is rock sold (won't turn) - do I need a press to press it out?

Thanks.

Re: New member - new owner

More shenanigans on the radiator front. I'm busy taking step by step pictures of how my MG TF choice of radiator will be made to fit the Excel's space/mounting positions. It's no big deal but whilst I'm taking some stuff off the current/ruined radiator I thought I'd take the rust off the mounting ta...

Re: New member - new owner

Those are the things I'm going to be finding out (and my solutions to them) over the next couple of weeks. Been away this weekend so will start investigating how it's all going to come together this week and next. At this stage I've not even had a chance to offer the fan cowl up to the radiator (I'v...

Re: New member - new owner

Question on door latches (the bit that has the 3 or 4 screws that goes into the end of the actual door). Did they change much over the life of the Excel? I need a passenger door one and there's one off a 1985 car on ebay. I've an '87. Is there a difference? They look the same but.....just asking her...

Re: New member - new owner

Radiator update. So I need a new radiator. Reading around the subject of radiator choices I'd seen that there were 'regular' choices from Lotusbits or SJ sportscars etc or you could go down the ebay route......but either way the options were £240 ish.....and with other commitments going on at the mo...

Re: New member - new owner

Oh! Forgot to say.......back in the day I loved in-car entertainment (which seems to have lost it's way with modern cars and their android/faceless interfaces). Anyhoo.....I've got a couple of Kenwood amps and wires and I've decided to try and find a top-end head-unit (from either Kenwood-Trio, Alpi...

Re: New member - new owner

Zaphod - I'll look into the rebuild kit. Just need to go back and remind myself what sort of SU fuel pump it is so I can look up the re-build kit price. In separate news things are quietly coming together......but money is the stickler at the moment. I need about £800 (4 tyres are part of that £800)...

Re: New member - new owner

Lots of technical work done on 'Doug' over the last two days. Questions for you; 1) Has anyone bought an MG TF radiator - experiences (difficulties experienced I mean)? 2) Waterpumps - do most people rebuild or buy new? The short update on the Lotus is.....I found a dead (long dead) rodent behind th...
