Re: Jacking with a scissor lift

Is it OK to lift the car completely off the ground on the body alone.? Just thinking the chassis complete with the weight of the engine etc are hanging on the body fixings. It's a Lotus. So the body is solidly bolted to the chassis to add strenght and stiffness, not with a bunch of rubber doughnuts...

Jacking with a scissor lift

Evening all
I’ve read some of the threads re jacking points. I have a scissor lift in the garage and it looks like it would be ok to place the rubber blocks that came with the lift underneath the cills at each end to spread the load. Does this sound right?
Thanks

The two plugs closest to the front have oil in the plug wells and there is oil leaking onto exhaust. The top rocker covers seem dry so assume it’s the cam tower to block gaskets which sound...

hi bash
sadly PPC is no more although it may get rescued by another publisher. read your stuff and it would have made a good feature!

Re: First impressions….

Thanks everyone. Extending the check straps sounds like a must do mod. There’s a little bit of paint to rectify and some trim to sort it everything seems to work (famous last words!) Just read the text. So the rover v8 has found its way in then. Send me some words and a few pics and I’ll see about ...

New owner 1988 Excel

Evening all My wife recently bought a red '88 excel at auction - its a lovely thing Red with cream leather/cloth, adjustable suspension, stainless exhaust. It drives really well - quite astonished at how well a big set of carbs works! I'm sure there will be some niggles that need rectifying in due c...
