Lotus Garage
So having bought everything to rebuild the suspension, I have decided it's too much for me having watched the Neil Donaldson youtube saga. So where can I find someone to rebuild it is the question. Of course there is LotusBits but they are a very long way away fro East Sussex. Does anybody know of a...

Re: Door frame Seals
Think i need to replace by door seals. I can get OEM seals with 90 Degree corner but wonder if something better has arisen in the last few decades of improvements?

Re: Electric window
Drivers door compleed with new motor and channel seals and all moving very nicely. Turns out taking the frame out was far easier than i thought.
Now to do the passenger door which works slowly so hoping with new channel seals she might be a bit better. if not then another new motor I guess.

Re: Door frame Seals
I suspected i might not get a responce on this so the next best thing for me is to look at an 89 Excel, mine is an SA, that is complete so I can understand the details of the various seals and the engine bay etc. There is nothing like looking at something rather than a description or a parts manual....

Re: New comer - Progress (edit)
Congrats on the rare SA.
I have an SA but its not really drivable at the moment as needs full suspension rebuild, new power steering, AC doesnt work, sagging headling....I could go on and on but loving every minute of the restoration.

There is a plastic end trim for the external glass called in the parts book a Finisher Wipseal Rear R/H part AO89V4414K . Any idea where I might find one of these as I...

Re: Electric window
I have found in the bottom of the door a piece of dence foam rubber which i suspect was a cushioned stop for the electric windows. It was obviously glued to someting but can't see where. Can't see anything on it in the Parts Manual. Thoughts please? Fitted the new electric motor for the drivers side...

Front Dampers
I have rear nonadjustable rear dampers from Lotus Bits but the curretly they don't do front dampers. SJ do an adjustable damper but given they sit inside the spring can the adjuster knob be accessed for adjustment? I have bought new front springs with the top space as its an SA. Anybody fitted these...

Re: Electric window
I finally managed to get the motor off as it was only held on with two hex bolts. The motor was seized solid. Once off could move the glass and get at the bottom left bolt so now all out and waiting for a new motor and guide felts from SJ. Door beam has surface rust so i can deal with that as best I...

Re: Electric window
We have a problem as the window is fully up and so the lifting arm hasnt cleared the bottom tigt bolt so I can remove the assembly.
Ive tried pushing on the glass and levering the arm but nothing wants to budge., I assume the motor or gearing is seized.
Further thoughts anybody?
