Re: changing my Excel's timing belt

The pulley has two threaded holes which take a small puller. You can rig this with two bolts and a flat steel plate. All of this with the bonnet off, an easy one man job, no weight. If you stand on the right hand side of the engine (drivers side in the u.k). reach down to the bell housing from above you find a hole. A bit tricky to find bu...

I had the same problem. Lights had a mind of their own. As Stew says - water in the relay.

Re: Hinckley BID’s 10th Annual Motorshow – Sunday September 19th 2021

I would be interested in the Sunday meeting. Ok Phil - there’s no club booking for this one - you need to email them yourself to indicate your interest. Once we have a confirmed contingent, I’ll ask them to put us together. They do normally try to group similar cars.. Cheers, Richard OK - have sent...

Re: Wickins badge keyfobs

Got mine yesterday - Very nice quality. Thanks very much.Your supplier should do nose badges. Could make a killing. The Wickens 'Christmas pudding' badges used to be available on SJ's but I can't find them now. They used to have Green and gold and black and gold. I bought one from SJ's in 2008 £89.9...

Re: Alternator

You should be getting 14 volts across the battery at idle - certainly at 1000rpm. If all the connections are clean I would be looking at getting the alternator checked or rebuilt

Re: Engine starts then stalls

I had the same problem. Turned out to be the rev limiter. A well known problem. Pull the plug out and try to start it. Got nothing to loose by trying this easy fix.
At least you can eliminate the rev limiter as a suspect.

I will be there. As you say, parade laps are quite quick. Not like Donnington Historic.

I bought a ticket last year which has been carried on to this year. It was booked through Club Lotus but see you there.
