Thanks Andy,
Yes they are original, I saw the ball and cup arrangement on the spare light I have, just couldn't figure out how the securing nut would lock this in the correct position. If it works, though, that's good enough for me, just need to brave the weather and try it.

Headlamp overhaul and fog light alignment
I spent the Christmas break overhauling my Cibie headlamp units - couldn't go to the pub or go visiting so it seemed like a nice little project! I was pleasantly surprised how much better the light output and beam definition was after I had cleaned the "haze" from inside the glass, using Mr Muscle g...

Re: Spark Excel model
Just got this via email: “We have no firm plans for the time being but might reissue some of the models you suggest over the next year or two. Thanks for your interest Clive Rigby” Great news that they are at least considering it. All we can do now is keep our fingers crossed, and report back to th...

Re: Spark Excel model
Could an organised stream of enquiries by email to Spark trigger them to consider a re-run? I like the idea of the Winterbottom Edition Excellent idea! I've submitted an email via Spark's website: https://www.sparkmodel.com/en/contact I think the key to this will be if enough people show an ...

Re: Spark Excel model
It crossed my mind that with Oliver W's untimely passing, awareness and interest in the 4 seat wedges is probably at it's highest for many years. Maybe Spark could be persuaded to release "Oliver Winterbottom Memorial Edition" models of the 3 cars, and reaching the 1000 model figure that way - i.e. ...

Re: Sara Helmer, Oliver’s sister
Hi Sara, welcome to the friendliest Lotus forum on the Internet!
I had the pleasure of meeting Oliver a couple of times when he came to talk at the Club Lotus Avon branch, on the last occasion I helped him with his laptop slideshow, becoming an unwitting "projectionist" for the evening...

Re: The Winterbottom Run
I like the sound of this, would definitely be up for it. A fitting way of commemorating a great designer. Covid restrictions permitting, an overnight stop with an opportunity to toast Oliver would be great.

Re: Wheel Paint
I think it is a case of YMMV, but I would have expected more than 5 years. Mine were professionally painted and lasted about 8 years before corrosion started to get under the paint. The tyre valves and the hubs were the worst affected area, and once it started the deterioration was rapid. I've now h...

Re: RIP Oliver Winterbottom
Very sad to hear this. On the occasions I've met him he was always very personable and happy to chat, with so many stories (many of them humorous...) of life at Lotus. RIP Oliver.

Re: Peter James Insurance price hike
I've been with RH Specialist Insurance for the last 5 years or so - always competitive so I haven't felt the need to move around. Funnily enough I left Peter James for them too.

Re: Replacing front brake discs
The discs are only £28.20 + VAT from SJ Sportscars at the moment, that's what I fitted when I did mine. At least you would be sure of no fit issues. I didn't have any issues with the wheel bearing seals, it all came apart easily and I just kept it scrupulously clean, adding some fresh grease on reas...
