Re: 17" wheels

Now refurbished powder coated and on eBay. Message me if interested as will take off eBay for a lotusexcel.net member.

Not many cars running seventeens and this style really sets it off.

My car will also be up for sale shortly as don’t have enough garage space to keep it. Message me for details.

Re: Replacing a Steering Rack

Make sure you check the rod ends on the end of the rack (inner ends of the tie rods) for wear as well. I purchased a replacement rack for mine because of play at the wheel and it was only when I got it out of the car did i realise that the ball was moving around inside the joint and that was my issu...

Re: 17" wheels

Morning All, sorry to revive an old thread, but there are loads of linked pictures and plenty of information on here. I am losing my storage and as a result getting rid of a number of my Excel spares (and likely the car once its finished) Would anyone be interested in the Oz wheels seen on my car in...

Re: engine dies

Add a new earth from the alternator to the car chassis and maybe even a new feed cable from the alternator to the Main battery post on the starter and you will be amazed at the difference in starting, performance and instruments!

Re: Cock up! Help please

Had a similar boo boo myself recently, loosened the bolt to adjust timing and the car died. I knew I had a dodgy connection on one of the plugs to the AB14 so spent an hour trying to fiddle with it all, only to discover that the dizzy had disengaged itself from the oil pump drive shaft and hence no ...

Re: LSD

Am pretty sure that a "upgraded / tightened" diff is simply an extra pair of standard friction plates added into the housing, maybe 8 instead of standard 6, would need to dig out my resources and check. Also they can be shimmed to increase the preload if required using the standard number of plates,...

Gearbox rubber boot

Does anyone have a source for the rubber boot that goes on top of the gearbox? https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjOts-G4I_dAhUwVt8KHTpSBEUQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdellowconversions.com.au%2Fproduct%2Ftoyota-manual-gearstick-boot-suits-...

Re: LSD

I would ask your local diff guy. Am pretty sure when I had mine apart he said, oh i recognise those friction plates, they are the same as ....... But am afraid I cant remember what axle, possibly from an (old rear drive) escort as the guy was very familiar with those and had a few MK2 diffs in his s...

Re: Damper Replacement

I was recommended to roll the car a decent distance forward and backward and cycle the suspension a few times before finally tightening the suspension bolts to get out any residual twist in the bushes. Made quite a difference when i got it on a laser four wheel aligner as the first time i did it all...

Re: What have I bought??

When i rebuilt my engine, I went for new iron liners, but to the nicosil coated dimensions, so that they would fit into my HC block. They are available at reasonable cost from a couple of the usual suspects for less than new nicosil ones which i couldn't afford. I matched a set of standard HC piston...

Re: Respray

I managed to find a couple of local guys in Maidstone to do my car and they did a fantastic job of it.

I stripped the car and removed the engine for them and that was circa £2k cash.
