Overwhelmed
Just reached a (frickin huge) decision. My lovley Excel (named Trumpble) has to go. Two years of ownership has seen some highs and lows but the deciding factor was the workload. Replacing the headlining took a while, setting the preload just right on the front bearings with a spring-balance was an e...

Leaking diff?
First the window, then the reverse light, now a wee oil pool on the floor of the garage and spots of oil on the back of the car. I had a crawl about under the car and the diff looks suspiciously oil covered, except... I cant see where the freaking oil is coming from! The breather has been freed off ...

Window woes
Folks,
A conunonononondrum (or me being thick):
Pass window went down (a couple of inches) but died there. Fuse is OK. Is it motor off and bench test it with a spare battery or is there a smart route?

Replacement Coil
Anyone fitted one of those MSD Blaster coils?
I've got a Blaster 2 Coil here, part number 8202 and was wondering if anyone else had fitted one and what their experiences have been (both in fitting it and with the results).

Re: Ignition upgrades?
Am looking at the MSD Blaster 2. Can you confirm it's the one without the ballast resistor?
as an aside:
Paul Matty are quoting me about half the cost for an uprated coil. Thoughts?

Re: Headlining replacement
Tis done! Complete headlining has now been replaced. Quite a job though. Took me a few days although I did spend about an hour figuring out how to cut a template to cover those rear panels before I realised the material stretched and conformed to most shapes. A word of warning though, I tore the "ti...

Anyone want some HT leads?
from the distributor to each spark plug plus the one from the coil to the distributor. They are double silicone. So a higher spec than the originals. I mistakenly bought 2 sets so don't need these.

Re: Brake disk replacement
Hmm. Interesting points. I take the bonnet off because that way there is good access (and sight lines) to reattach the airbox to the front of the car. It's also great for getting plenty of light into the engine bay although it is possible that Christmas will see one of those lovely mobile lighting a...

Re: Brake disk replacement
The brake disk replacement involved undoing the pivot bolt that holds the calliper in place, releasing the two seized bolts that held the calliper assembly on, undoing the single nut which pre-loads the wheel bearings, removing the hub assembly, undoing the 4 seized bolts that hold the disk to the b...
