Re: Best brakes to fit on (or inside) standard wheels

Used to work on Volvos in the 1980's. The red block engines are bomb proof.

Re: NEC Classic Car & Restoration Show 27-29 March 2020

We have a number of expenses to cover as a club, now that we don't have the parts and merchandise revenue. These include the cost of hosting the forum until and unless we can move to another platform - I'm trying to engage Chris Hopper, our technical administrator, in a dialogue so we can decide ho...

Re: The Future of the Club

And the benefit of a paid club would be? It's a shame to see the death of a decent forum. I think some people have forgotten this forum is "paid" for by the kindness of a few people and when certain people put demands on that kindness the whole system breaks down. I for one would be abandoning the f...

Re: Headlamp pod adjustment

I'm going to do some presuming here. My Excel lives in gargage about a mile away and I don't really want to start dismantling the head lamp mechanism. I think the actuator rod will be about 6mm diameter. At a push something like this might fit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6MM-13MM-19MM-TOP-HAT-GROMME...

Re: Headlamp pod adjustment

Hello John Lotus part number is A076W6160F They are under the electrical section on the parts catalogue. (if you've not got the online version, it's certainly worth it). But I think you are putting too much emphasis on the little fellow. It's purely there to stop 2 bits of metal rubbing. I'd perhaps...

Re: Headlamp pod adjustment

The adjustment on the early system is a bit hit and miss. The push rod has a rose joint which attaches to to an arm off the motor. Half way along the push rod is a metal spring seat. The spring is sandwiched between the seat and the actuating bar running across the width of the pod. The nylon bush s...

Re: convoluted tubing near rear most carb

On early cars the engine breather system was very basic. The tube connected to the engine sounds like its part of that engine breather system. It should be an elbow about 3 inches long that goes to the bottom of the air filter box. The one from the cam cover also goes to the air filter box. I presum...

Looks a bit scammy

Not been MOT'd since 2017 and with the amount of vehicles the person is selling they must own a car museum.
However, if it's a genuine ad then someone could be in for a bargain.

Re: Shock Absorbers

Hello. Just thought I'd resurrect this thread... I'm finally in a postion to change my front shock absorbers (financial, not lying on the floor with 1 leg under the front bumper and the other behind my head). One of the adjusters on my Protech shocks is damaged due to the suspension movement so I've...

Re: Crooked steering wheel

As Peter Mentioned, the first thing I would check would be the tracking. Some "mechanics" only adjust the tracking using the tie rod adjustment on 1 side. This throws the whole steering geometry out and puts the steering wheel off centre. Look at the track rod ends and count the number of threads yo...
