Re: Brake Shims
Hello Pete. It's not as they are squealing. It's more of a case of them falling apart.Pete Boole wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 21:51Try one of the anti-squeal pastes that are available these days.
Pete
Always thought it was such a fiddly over complicated arrangement on the Excel.

Brake Shims
Hello. I could do with replacing the anti-squeal shims on ther brake calipers.
Brakes international seem to be out of stock and don't bother answering emails.
SJ have the fronts, but want £45 for the rears.
Has anyone else found an alternative?
Thanks
Jason

Re: Members map?
Hello. Sorry for the late reply.
I can still access the members map.
I did need to sign in with my google password though. I'lll have a look if anything looks amiss.
I've not been around for a while, so will also try and be a bit more active.

Re: AVO damper bottom bush
Seems a bit poor. Have you had a chat with AVO to see if they'll replace them.
Have you had the "weight on" when you've tightened the bolt ?

Re: Door Latch adjustment
I recently had the same problem. I've noticed the backplate on the latch is bent out of shape. As my car has only 50.000 miles and I don't think BL's build quality was even this poor, it must be in-correct adjustment that's causing the issue. The catches are avaiable on Ebay. I paid £38 and the chap...

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder & Slave Cylinder.
Hello. The Delphi part Number for the clutch master cylinder is ADT33431. I'd bought one from an online seller, but the mounting studs are in the wrong place (12 and 6 o'clock) I would recommend changing the push rod to the original. The new one is slightly shorter making the bite point for the clut...
Re: Excel key
Sorry for the late reply. Just had a look at the previous owner list.
I contacted the DVLA in 2014 (thought it was more recent than that...old age etc). I'm sure I filled some sort of form out, but as already mentioned, I thought it was only about 3 years ago so it could be anything.

Re: Excel key
I told the DVLA I was researching the history of my vehicle, paid £15 (IIRC) and about 3 weeks later photocopies of all the previous owners V5's arrived. Quite interesting to find it was first owned by a company 5 miles away from my house.

Have a look if the body has cracked yet. I think it's not loose bolts, but poor body alignment /fitting that causes the creak.
