Re: Lotus Excel leaking sunroof
Good question! I am looking into that. Whilst checking out specialist repairers in our region I came across these. They look impressive on their website. Have you come across them? https://www.option1sportscars.co.uk/ Cheers Duke Yes, I have used Option 1 for some retrimming work, but not for bodyw...

Re: Lotus Excel leaking sunroof
Thanks for all the suggestions and don't worry i will not be sacrificing an Elite body shell! Unfortunately this particular sunroof has no spares available so I will have to get a paint shop to glass in the hole. My Excel needs a respray anyway following a botched job around five years ago which ha...

Re: Lotus Excel leaking sunroof
My sunroof hole was glassed in by the paint shop when it was resprayed, very successfully. Webasto sunroofs are, IMHO, the best type of sunroof on a classic and if you can restore it using the contact provided by AlanM then go for it! Please don’t butcher an Elite! Although the roof profile is the s...

Re: The Winterbottom Run
Quick update - the TVRCC has been in touch and are keen to get involved. We just have to be sure we have more Loti that they have TVRs. I’m also starting to think about some merchandise we could create. What do people think about Winterbottom Run rally plates? I’ll try to get some costings if you ar...

Re: Donington Historic Festival 1-2 May - CANCELLED
I think we should spare a thought for the venues and organisers of the events being nonsensically restricted in this way. The sudden reversal in guidance means the strenuous efforts made by venues and organisers, together with the investments they have made, have been a waste. I don’t see how an eve...

Re: Donington Historic Festival 1-2 May
IMPORTANT Due to new Government restrictions, the event will now only be open to essential personnel, meaning that car clubs and spectators will not be admitted. Here is the message I received today from Karen Coe, the organiser, which explains everything: Dear Car Club Organisers I am immensely dis...

Bird in Hand sounds good - I only used booking.com which didn’t show anything around there. Do they serve food in the evening?

Re: The Winterbottom Run
Thanks to everyone who wants to join in. There is no limit on cars or numbers at the moment; we’re trying to find a venue near Wymondham Abbey that can accommodate a reasonable number of cars as there may not be enough space in front of the Abbey. I would like to ask for a volunteer to act as coordi...

Re: Elite 4th most beautiful car since 1950
Although an Excel owner I find the Elite much more attractive. The rear of the Excel is just a normal coupe rear, whereas the Elite has, in my eyes, a stunning profile and rear. However, for my tastes the Excel is much better engineered than the Elite, and that rules out ownership an Elite. I've al...

Re: Elite 4th most beautiful car since 1950
And the Excel in at 45. Nice one. Good find Richard. Yes - the Elite Excel! I must admit to not understanding why it’s down at 45 if the Elite is at 4. The dimensions measured are from a frontal view which must be pretty much identical on both cars. Still, we should gratefully take whatever is offe...
