Re: Govt consultation on Classic & historic vehicles - Important!

The net zero future they intend for us all doesn’t particularly include classic vehicles, or indeed private cars at all. Look at UN Agenda 2030. This consultation is part of an administrative process to gradually wear us down. It is important to resist, even if they end up not taking much notice - i...

Govt consultation on Classic & historic vehicles - Important!

There is an important government consultation under way on the future status of Classic and historic vehicles to which we should all reply if we wish not to be driving around on Q plates. The FBHVC has published a useful guide to responding to this consultation and I’d recommend that we review this ...

Re: Lotus Excel interior

Slightly worrying if LB are disposing of their old stock of secondhand interiors ☹️ I know conventional wisdom in stock control tends to be ‘if it doesn’t move, scrap it’ but that is more applicable to a fast moving operation rather than one supposedly more to do with supporting restorations. Cheers...

Re: Wiring diagrams for early Excels

I have asked Andy Graham in the past about publishing extracts from the service notes on the forum, but he didn’t reply. I know there has been a major reorganisation at Lotus and, unless Andy is still there, I’m not sure there would be anyone with the slightest interest in what we are talking about....

Re: Club Lotus Track Day, Castle Combe 25th May

Thanks for your replies. Would anybody else planning to bring their Elite along please let me know? To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Elite we will have a reserved parking area and a dedicated parade lap. We’d also love to see other Grand Tourers there as well, as it is the 50th anniversary o...

Re: vacuum advance capsule

From some research I did in the dim and distant past on distributors, I recall that the vacuum advance units and the centrifugal advance weights are pretty much the same across the range - it is the advance springs that are different. Of course this may be different with Lotus! New vacuum units are ...

Re: NEC Restoration Show - 22-24 March 2024

Yes it was a great show - huge thanks to Pete, Matt and Mark who brought their cars making an impressive, informative and instructive display. Thanks to Farmer Richard for organising (hope you’re enjoying your holiday Richard), to Phil for his great array of pictures, and to those who helped on the ...

Elite M50 50th Anniversary

Lotus Elite 50th Anniversary The Lotus Elite was originally planned for launch in March 1974. This had to be delayed at the last minute until May 1974 because of the extent of industrial disruption at the time. However the decision was made too late to pull the very first public advertisement of the...

I'm arranging a meet with Richard Friday morning.
Thanks Stu.
If Stu no longer needs a pass then I can come to the show on Friday morning and bring the stuff - saves having to drive across just to hand over to Tony. Farmer Richard, are you ok with this?

Cheers, Richard

Re: NEC Restoration Show 2024 - Call for Volunteers

Guys if someone can meet me Friday morning and take the mugs into the show then I don’t need my ticket. I could meet Stu or Tony near the NEC. I don’t want either of you to miss out on your Friday passes. I’m still trying to get the board sticker printed but I do have a box of 25 mugs! Let me know w...

The difference is that petrol power developed under the forces of a free market - more convenient, cost effective etc. Electric vehicles only exist because of government diktat and subsidy. What could possibly go wrong? Richard If Ford could make more profit building a car that throws a little bit ...

Still getting kicked out - any more ideas? Pete It’s almost certainly something to do with your browser settings as nobody else seems to have the problem, and there haven’t been any changes in our platform as far as I can see. Do you have cookies enabled, for example? Not that I’m an expert! Cheers...
