Re: Wheel Paint

I'm also in the process of painting my rims.
Will be by paint.
Does somebody know the official paintcode for the wheels?

Thanks....

Re: RIP Oliver Winterbottom

It is sad to hear that he died.

I just bought his book "A Life in Car Design - Jaguar, Lotus, TVR" very interesting stories with some humor.
Pitty I have never met him...

Re: Damper bump and rebound

Dampers are as efficient as the right springs range is used where they are made for...... I bought the SJS lowered springs with the spax adjustable dampers. I just found the right setting with some help of this forum  . It can be just 1 click that makes the difference between right and ... not...

Re: Fuel Pipe Replacement

Yes a crash feature  .. Ok mine stays in it. About fuel.. Be careful about using other pumps. Although I had a new identical pump my Carbs were overflowing some times with everything setup properly. Check the fuel pressure ones to be sure the pressure is not above 3.5psi to be on the safe sid...

Re: Which grade bolts do I need?

Hello Alan, Yes 12.9 will be more then enough. The black ones are mostly chemically blackened. Not so protective as plated. But after mounting the new bolts spray some bitumen to cover the whole thing. Will be enough. Do not forget to use a slightly bigger washer on the bottom side and apply some se...

Re: Speedo VDO question

@Don, No problem.. My memory is something also blur. Especially with the Lock-down here.... @Bill, Yes my original one probably went also down in the same way. Important to have a good smooth cable. Yes mech speedo's don't like bobbling around. Problem with the LHD is even critical. LHD an...

Re: Speedo VDO question

Hello Don,

thanks very much for the offer.
What's on the back of your VDO Speedo?
I could not find a reference for the Lotus VDO numbers?

I also inquired for a recalibration.

Thanks

Re: Speedo VDO question

Thanks guys... Well I must say the current SPeedo is way out by 30-40%. But if I can find the correct one would be preferrable. So the SJSportscar one is not the right one, it's the A089N6013F Sending my Speedo to calibrate costs also a lot of money + shipment.. but I can give it a try. Thank...

Speedo VDO question

Hello All, Yes, it has been a long time since I was here...and there are quite some things changes, but still great.. No, I did not sell my 88 Lotus Excel SE. She is nearly at the end of a restoration project. Only painting + airco repair. Now that The virus keeps us home there is some more time to ...

Re: 123

Hello Phil, Thanks for the PM. I didn’t make progress, currently working on other car to get ready for Lemans Classic.. Interesting changes you made. I will also try it. I still have this hesitation at low revs. But I was wondering what you used for vacuum advance curve? Here you could improve accel...

Re: 123

Hello, Something went wrong during copying. For the vacuum I measured this. So this is just the advance when hanging a vacuum pump with meter on the vacuum unit. So for each advance point I measured the pressure.(InHg+Bar) InHg Bar Advance ° 2___0,07______2 3___0,10______6 4___0,14______9 5___0,17__...

Re: 123

Hello, Sorry for long absence, little busy now. Well the 123 works fine. I still have this hasitation at low revs +-2000. Same as with the AB14 So would like to know what I can change to the ignition curve to improve? And not to stress the engine to much? Does someone has some suggestions? I did not...

123

Hello, As a present I received a 123-ignition. http://www.123ignition.nl/ What a relieve. A programmable ignition. Only disadvantage is that the max pre-ignition of the vacuum is 20°. But this can compensated. But it can run 2 maps to be switched. Can use 1 in cold condition if necessary. Cur...

Woolies has Carpet fasteners which are nearly identical to the original, but sticking better.
