Re: Fuel System Cleaners - any good?

I've used fuel additives to help clean injectors etc but I would never use an oil additive. Oil manufacturers spend loads of time perfecting their oil. If it could be improved so much with a £5 bottle of something extra, I think they would have incorporated it in the first place. :) +1 for me. Don'...

Re: Carbs the squirty bit.

Wow that's some nice equipment... I've set mine off the car with some X squirts and measuring then the average fuel. However that did not really worked apparently. After installing, the AFR during acc. was however NIO. The car stopped accelerating. So I just adjusted the amount until the car acceler...

Re: Rough cold running

I would suggest to check your spark plugs? They mostly tell you a story. This engine is quite prone to Spark fouling when not properly adjusted and especially when running idle on choke for some time. They also indicate if you running rich/poor etc.... See this pdf chart from Autolight [url]...

Re: Black trim on the upper/lower body joint

There are also 2 types of trim. Check the one you have And doing it in a warm environment is important. You needed a heat gun to deform the trim on the car. Length by length. Take some over size on each ending as the trim will crawl up at that point. Use some easy to remove tape to push the trim to ...

Re: Leather Repair and re-colour : What product suppliers don’t tell you.

Wow thanks, super write-up... I did also my interior. Luckily it was black, so that was a lot easier.. and there were no ripping or big cracks. One thing which is important is to feed the leather to make and keep it soft. Otherwise you will get again cracks in the repairs especially after a hot summ...

Hello Marten,

Welkom.
Nice car I must say. Did he come from Bauke perhaps??

Taking the body off I would only do if you really need to restore the car completely.

Re: erratic oil gauge

I also ended up buying a new oil pressure gauge. Apparently the internals of the gauge gone bad. I sometimes had to knock on the gauge to make it stable. Also watch out to buy the right gauge/sensor combination. You have different scales which go with only 1 sensor. When I bought the car the combina...

Re: Cam Belt Tension

About tension.. I don't trust the "Krikit" type gauge. I did some human comparisons + repeatability. Conclusion: Very person dependent. Very big spread. So I came across this site from a certain Mike and he compared the "Draper" or "Laser" type gauge with the "Burroughs". I measured my original belt...

Re: Restauration result of a Lotus Excel SE

....... If you run the AFR meter in the dash at all times it would be interesting to see what AFR values you are happy with for part throttle cruising and at WOT (wide open throttle) full power. My Clan goes best with a full power/max torque AFR @ 13.0 - 13.2:1 and cruises nicely around 15:1. It id...

Re: Headlining done

Very well done... indeed.

I went for Woolies.
I think it was this: https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/ ... ining-grey
Same material as original but with a black foam backing.

Take also a good glue, otherwise you will do it again in 3 years..
