Lotus 2.2 HC engine for sale

Due to a bad year and a broken boat I have to change my plan on the Elipse. I will not use the engine before a while so if someone needs it would be a shame to keep it in my shed. The engine is coming from SOUTH WEST LOTUS CENTRE LTD and is still on the same pallet it came in. They gave me a 6 month...

Re: Lotus Ellipse

I am running late due to illness... (Kidney stone... ouch) but the car is almost ready for the fiberglass work. It's just too cold for now but soon the temperature should rise around here and I would be able to mix the satanic plastic. I will take pictures next weekend to show you what our cars are ...

Re: Lotus Ellipse

That seems like a inventive use for an otherwise scrap car. When I first saw your photoshop image in the Essex colours the cut away rear end reminded me of a Porsche 917 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2006FOS_1970Porsche917KGulf.jpg I think your design has a very Can-Am look to it. What about so...

Re: Lotus Ellipse

would the portion behind the rear wheels benefit from shortening both aesthetically and practically, as it's not really doing anything? As usual it is different "in the flesh" and I will try to work with it. See it as a Le Mans version  . Once cut it would be a pain to redo. Beside it has to c...

Re: Lotus Ellipse

I have limited space on my garage so I must deal with rubbish fast. I didn’t have time to weight everything but I was amazed by the weight of: Rear glass (a ton) The insulation (for what it does and the surface it covers) The doors (but card's doors are feather light) The dash board is about the sam...

Re: Lotus Ellipse

I have started with a 365£ car  Every single nut or bolt I had to deal with to go this far had to be destroyed if it had not dissolve itself over time. The windshield was delaminated (watch for this at is might get very dangerous in case of a crash). The interior had suffered from damp. The do...

Lotus Ellipse

Ok no turning back... this is going the lightest Elite ever made. I have been thinking about this since I have got the car in May 2013. I will try to document the build as much as I can, but I work alone and it's not always easy to take pict while working. So as you may have guessed, it's going to b...

Re: Chassis spec. Excel VS Elite/Eclat

A can of worms... I think most of this is only theory. I don't believe that anyone has data showing what an Exite (Excel-Elite) is once you have bolted a body not designed for the chassis it rest on! The fact is it can be done and it seems to be drivable and still show proper Lotus handlin...

Pilkington Triplex or Twin Simplex

While taking apart the aluminum trim I cracked the windshield. I found out that the windshield was delaminated and that it could present a potential risk for all of us. I you get a stone on the side of such a delaminated windshield, chance are that big pieces of very cutting glass would then result....

Re: Rusted doors

Yes thanks, but I will not need to replace them on this project. There will be no metal left in those doors... I took the rear glass out and boy is it heavy! The rear wipper is not light either! Petrol tank? Well it's a tank allright but a full size Abraham with fuel and amo! I wonder what will be t...

Rusted doors

I had a good laugh alone in my garage. I am dismantling the Elite to prep it for this season. I took the card out of the right door and... Against all ods for a plastic car it was full of rust. The rason I chose a frp car was to avoid the rust I have been fighting for the las 30 years in my Datsuns....
