Just got finished with my Maserati video. I am planning to do one like it about my Excel.

Re: Santa´s secret - Lotus Excel!!
Well, I don´t think they pcked it up for the video´s technical excellence.. :-) Good timing, silly idea and (at least in Finland) a very unusual car. A lot of exposure for Excel. People have been amazed by driving a Lotus in snow. A rough translation of the Top Gear lead in: "Santa Claus arrives in ...

Re: Santa´s secret - Lotus Excel!!
Thank you for your kind comments. We just got our first snow, so I got the idea for a silly video. As I filmed it by myself in about an hour, it doesn´t have all the movie magic it could have. I will make a proper video this winter, but that will take more time and a proper video editor (mine is cur...

Re: Santa´s secret - Lotus Excel!!
Showed it to my (nearly 5) grandson who stated "That's not the real Santa, that's a man in a Santa suit. The real Santa rides a sleigh pulled by Reindeer." I enjoyed it though. Many thanks and best wishes. That is a common misconseption around the world. Here in Finland, everyone knows that the Rea...

Re: Radiator fans problem
Ok, took the car to friends garage, and we measured the temperatures. When the temp gauge was at the first mark after 90, all the measured temperatures at the engine (expansion tank, radiator, radiator top hose, otter switch housing) were 82 deg or less. In conclusion. Me thinks it is the voltage st...

Re: Radiator fans problem
Turned the otter switch downwards. Ran the car up to temperarure and after a short drive left it idling for a while. The fans came on at first marking after 90 degrees and ran for 45 seconds keeping the temperartue stable. I´m starting to think that now the problem is the voltage stabilator. I will ...

Re: Radiator fans problem
Btw, what is the temp gauge indicating when it´s on the first mark after 90 deg? The interweb says variable numbers.. 100, 115?

Re: Radiator fans problem
^Have to try that tomorrow. Read about the Smiths gauge voltage stabilizers. My fuel gauge reads too high, could be wrong voltage?

Re: Radiator fans problem
Is the otter switch fully in contact with the coolant? The metal pipe in which it is situated should be positioned so that the switch is at the side rather than on top of the tube. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d21/chrisw2811/Excelcooling_zps229247d9.jpg Jep, it´s positioned to the side (toward...

Re: Radiator fans problem
Well the fault for the RHS fan not running was too stupid for words.. I had checked that all the fuses were ok, but not that all fuses are present! The RHS fan fuse was missing. Unsuprisingly it stared to work when I put a fuse in. Silly f***ing me... Now the problem remains with the trigger tempera...
