Curve ball from the right. Age of the tyre is one factor which determines their serviceability. Most people are using thread depth as their marker for a good tyre. However, low annual usage extends the life of the tyre based on thread depth. But this can be a killer - example in the recent bus crash...

Can I ask what was the noise you heard prior to the breakdown?
I too have an SA, with an audible whine, of which I can control the pitch with the throttle
Being deaf on one side doesn't help me triangulate the source.

Can I resurrect this and ask what the out come was, as I have a similar feel of inefficient braking, - but I know I have 2 sticky calipers to start with.

I take it there is history related to wiper motors, but first I would at least check the fuse and supply before ripping a dash out.
