Vauxhall development engine

Hello.
Having an internet mooch and discovered a web site about a chap who has one of the slant 4 Vauxhall engines used by Lotus to develop the production 907 engine. Might be worth a read.

Give the old ones a rub over with some brasso, then they'll look shiny and bright like a new one. 8)

Re: Power steering pump.

Check the bolt that goes vertically from the mounting bracket into the edge of the waterpump is present. They have a tendency to work loose/shear off.
I've got that little gem to look forward to. I think some re-designing might be required.

Re: Free to Good Home but could be junk.

I know Pete Boole has got a very interesting idea about how to make the saddle type cam cover leak free, so maybe of use to him.
I can store them until required if you need the space.

Re: The lowest thing

I took a rather spirited drive over a hump back bridge near my house. The exhaust was dropping bits of tarmac for the next 100 yards. The cars were designed in a pure time before speed bumps.

Re: Radiator cap/Expansion tank

The tank should be about an inch from the neck of the filler. I concur (always wanted to say that) about the 15psi cap.

Had a great weekend also. I always enjoy attending this show.
Big thanks to Angus for organising and allowing me to use his chair when he wasn't around.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder - new fitting

I managed to adjust mine so it's nearly the same height. I did use the original lotus yoke though. IRC it's longer than the one on the one that comes with the master cylinder. If pedal is a massively different height something is wrong.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder - new fitting

Hello. I never did change the push rod on the clutch master cylinder. The original push rod is certainly longer than the replacement. I'd certainly take a look to see if the adjustment is correct. The push rod should be fully depressed about 4mm from the floor of the car. If the pushrod is too long ...

Re: No Spark

Work through this test card.

The fire may have damaged the internals of the distributor. There isn't much required to get a spark, so it might be easier to use a fly lead from a clean 12volt supply to the coil.

Re: MotorFest 21st April 2019

I'm presuming people's fears over Brexit are the reason for the poor attendance for this years show. I've written to Theresa May about my concerns and this was the reply: "The Cabinet has just had a long, detailed and impassioned debate on the attendance of Motorfest 2019 and the Outline Political D...
