Re: New member - new owner

Sorry everyone - been a bit quiet on here recently. Combination of helping my son lamb his ewes, buying a new tractor (a Renault 106 54, with a knackered clutch and g/box issues - never let it be said I'm not a glutton for punishment.....) and well, that's it really. I've yet to order parts for the ...

Re: New member - new owner

Yes! That rubber backed sponge stuff! Thanks for that - have heat gun and scraper and will get on. whilst the seat is out makes total sense. There are some punchy-sized washers under the grey carpet where the back of the seat balances too that I need to make sure I don't lose. And I'm going to leath...

Re: New member - new owner

And so to today's escapade..........which mainly involved the last 30 mins of daylight after a day of doing stuff around the yard and house (nothing to do with the storm, all good there thankfully); our son (15) has a small flock of rare-breed Kerry Hills (wonderful sheep but mad as hatters) and 6 o...

Re: New member - new owner

So.........the list of parts I think I need, the absolute minimum, to get an MOT is 10 items; 1) Passenger doorframe 2) Passenger door lock (the internal bit not the actual door handle) 3) Metal rear seat thingy (underneath the car) - someone has already linked me to that thank you 4) carb gasket se...

Re: New member - new owner

Peter You're absolutely right - and alot of discussion was had about that seat belt thing with my friend - it's got to be fixed, but how - he was asking if there are replacements available - I wasn't sure. And on the carbs.....I've no idea - I know absolutely less than nothing about their innards - ...

Re: New member - new owner

It's been a manic 10 days or so with work including a trip to London and just generally things are alot busier on that front at the moment. Perhaps there's more confidence out there, let's hope so. It was only yesterday that I finally got the car on to the ramp - it was make or break time tbh - alth...

Re: New member - new owner

Had another inch of water out of the car this morning, I've still got the dehumidifier running - the car is definitely less wet but there is still a way to go. The leather is holding up....no change to the texture/look/feel. As I said in an earlier post - I'll be giving it another feed once the dryi...

Re: New member - new owner

Last night a friend of mine dropped off his dehumidifier. I set it up on the driver's seat (sat on a bit of marine ply so it's level) and left it running overnight with all the door's closed (of course). https://i.imgur.com/1DPLqgU.jpg I'm going to leave it running for the rest of the day before che...

Re: New member - new owner

Thanks guys - looking at various threads for ideas - in particular yours about the seat restoration. Need to understand how fibreglass works too now. Could i buy carbon fibre weave and use that instead perhaps? (just interested to hear - the cost will probably much more in favour of fibreglass).

Re: New member - new owner

Also - are people buying stainless nuts and bolts from car builder solutions? Or somewhere else? or perhaps B&Q/screwfix? Aldi even?

Re: New member - new owner

Richard I was thinking of something like this? https://www.jamiltonupholstery.co.uk/product/pirelli-webbing/?gclid=CjwKCAiAxJSPBhAoEiwAeO_fP1TI9L4MV9Nai8RpZ8igsG0H1VEYFQrPBL6o1m1X56NLDbZoZBY20RoCxK4QAvD_BwE I'd use strips of that under the actual rubber base to support the whole lot. Just an idea......

Re: New member - new owner

This is what I'm talking about (the brake servo sensor I think?);

It'll be a generic cap and switch I'm hoping - I'll have to try and find that end and put a new one on too from the wire side (that goes into the car).

Re: New member - new owner

Sorry about the images - clearly I'd managed to get the img thing wrong.....but I'm hoping I've solved that now. I'll check the jacking topic - I've got a two-post car lift in the shed and won't do anything until I've found it. I've also noticed that the sensor on top of the brake servo - the two pr...

Re: New member - new owner

Just a couple of photos to start off with - it's been a manic day all in all but really positive and we've made a start. There's a lot to do before I can go for an mot. And we've yet to get it on my car lift to check the underside. But even so. The dry-out has started, the kids are excited and altho...

Re: New member - new owner

Andrew - thanks for the lovely offer......but I'm in west Wales :) It's ok - I've got a plan (going to hire one) and I had a phone call last night about a trailer I've seen on gumtree (about 15 months ago - long story but the owner lost a close family friend due to covid and just dropped off line, u...
