Re: Starter? Motor running on.
Been thinking. If it was the starter motor, why wasn't the gear thrown out to the fly wheel? Unless I have two problems?

Starter? Motor running on.
An intermittent issue today. Cold start, bit reluctant to fire. Holding key in crank position for maybe 5 seconds, but when key released, I could still hear a motor running in engine bay. Engine not yet running, and not being cranked, just a motor running. I THINK it was the starter motor. Switched ...

Re: vacuum advance capsule
Can't help on the vac advance unit, but check the hall effect pick up wire closely and also the nylon castlation widget that drives the vac plate.
The wire particularly gave me much grief for many months (years) until I eventually replaced with new. Intermittent break in the wire.

Good News / Bad News. Bad news : offered Pete's recently produced lower grill up yesterday. Re: Lotus Drivers' Club meet at Weedon
I would have been there, but cars not off SORN until Monday.
I went last year and the Silk Red is identical to mine, just a lot better paintwork and generally reflecting it's lower mileage.
Owner lives in Rugby and only bought it last summer from Rochdale IIRC. - Cost a few bob more than mine though.

Accelerator Pumps might be difficult to access whilst still attached to car, but function might be possible to check.

Re: Is my power steering working?
Drawing a conclusion to this thread, power steering wasn't working all the time and it is most probable that the cause of my problem was the rack. To recap the problem, at slow manoeuvring speeds often the steering was just so heavy it was hard work to turn. Adding a little revs bought the fluid flo...

Re: NEC Restoration Show - 22-24 March 2024
In a word - no. Anodised trims were wrapped, a few minor paint blemishes, but biggest issue looked to be drivers door, which had dropped significantly. Window frames didn't look great either. Alan and I reckoned it would have been a good buy at £12K. Particularly as it's done very few miles in last1...

We had a visit today on the LGT stand from the Business Manager for Classic Team Lotus. We discussed the spares they've taken on from Paul Matty and he seemed genuinely interested in how they could support the Grand Tourers going forward. I mentioned that top and bottom windscreen trims for Elite / ...

Re: Electric window
Don't worry about the wires. Just connect and try. If it's wrong all that will happen is window will go down when you press up and vica-versa. By channel, if you mean the felt seal the window runs in, you'll need to remove the glass first. Awkward job and you will probably need to at least unbolt th...
