I recently replaced the seals on the diff: the rubber had split from the metal just like yours. They're easy to replace but I was surprised how expensive they were, even from SJ Sportscars. The most difficult bit is getting the torque right on the pinion nut; you have to measure the bearing preload ...

Hi Roy

I have a brand new set of EBC sport front discs (grooved and spotted), Green Stuff pads and one reconditioned caliper (offside I think) that I shall not be using. Make me an offer if you're interested.

Hi Guy I live near Nottingham - do you ever get up this way? It would be good to compare notes! I don't have a pallet, but if you can't collect the R154 I'm sure I can sort it. I'm fitting a full roll cage in the car which is triangulated onto the front and rear suspension tops - this will give the ...

Hi Guy I'm using a Tremec TKO 600 - supposed to handle 600lb/ft - and it definitely fits with some minor modifications to the shifter housing. Having talked to several people with experience using the R154, they all said it was good for the road but weak for the track. (ps I have an R154 if anyone w...

Hi Chris I did a trial patch on the chassis yesterday with the "galvanizing" spray - "TYGRIS R224 GALVE SPRAY", from the local engineers supply emporium. It looks fine but it marks/scuffs really easily. The etch primer has worked really well - seems to have bonded very strongly, but I am re-thinking...

Hi Steve The beans.... I'm using a General Motors V8 - Chevy LS1. 350-450 horsepower naturally aspirated, depending on cam; 600-800 with supercharger/twin turbos. It's about 100lb heavier than the Lotus engine, but with a lighter aluminium radiator, no air-con compressor/condensor, and a lightweight...

The de-ox gel is brilliant - just remember to keep it from drying out while it is working. I use a toothbrush-sized wire brush dipped in more gel to scrub at the rust and keep it wet. I have just painted my whole chassis with etch primer after de-greasing and de-rusting. I'm going to use a "cold gal...

Hi Steve I'm planning to use HiSpec components (www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk). I've done some brake torque calculations using estimates of tyre and brake pad friction coefficients and plan to use 330mmx22mm at the back; aluminium bell +rotor (to match 335mmx32mm at the front), using their 2-pot handbr...

Chris - what colour are you painting the chassis? I've just finished welding the reinforcing plates for the roll-cage mountings on mine and was wondering what colour to paint it (after etch priming).
