Re: New Excel model coming soon
Well I ordered mine (red) in summer and it hasn't turned up yet. I get emails every month to say it's on back order. Paid only £1 holding deposit so far. ☹️ Maybe the first batch was faulty as described and so they can't complete my order at the full price. The faulty ones being sold off cheaper. I ...

Re: Vinyl roofs and repairs
That's more than acceptable for a classic with age-related patina. It's a bit like leather seat patina - I prefer the look - as long as it's rip-free and looks cared for.

Re: 215/50r15 back in production
Just thought about the pictures that I hadn't posted from way back this summer, demonstrating my cheap-ish tyre fitting and balancing gear. Fitted and balanced all 4 new Toyos in a day taking it slow and easy. Bead broken and old tyre removed. Rim bead seat cleaned ready for new Toyo 215/45/15. http...

Yes I'll do a diagonal strap. Hadn't thought about using it for fuel receipts. Great idea

Re: Headlining
Now that sounds like my kind of job...easy to do. Thanks Alan
BTW, SWMBO now says she could cope without the mirror.

Re: Headlining
So does A001 comprise front AND side rail trims as one unit?
If so, looks like a nightmare to get off without marring something. Trimming tools needed rather than a flat blade screwdriver!
Thanks for diagram btw, Neil.

Re: Headlining
Thanks Neil.
I too would delete the mirror but SWMBO will need it for cosmetic maintenance.
So the front trim comes out by just by undoing the screws under both sunvisors plus the screws into the rear mirror bracket?

Re: Headlining
Thanks again chaps. I think I will have a go at the sun visors myself. In any case they are not staying like that. How would one finish the leather edge around the vanity mirror? The leather is quite thick so I guess folding it to make a clean edge around the mirror might be tricky? Also how do you ...

Re: Headlining
Thanks chaps, Credit goes to the trimming guy. He did a good job. The only rear flaw in the job is at the c pillars. Lotus used normal door card clips pushed through the c pillar trims, and as there can be no foam backing under stretched 2 mm thick leather, the clip heads show through as a small rec...

Back after two weeks at The Classic Car Workshop, near Croft Race circuit. They did the strip-down and leather fitting, I didn't do anything. https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=752EB03D4B6DB20D%2128325&authkey=%21AHF1OD30njM2gyk&width=4160&height=1872 https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=752EB03...

Re: Radiator Replacement - Chinese aluminium radiator
2mm would be significant in my case as from side to side it was an interference fit in the aperture! Enough to push the fins into the side tanks which had no space to move with the fins.

Re: Radiator Replacement - Chinese aluminium radiator
And it's definitely the radiator, leaking where the core meets one of the end tanks. Exactly the same happened to my Winner rad after about one years use. In my situation the Winnerr rad was in a tad tight and it wasn't rubber mounted at the time. My interpretation of the cause is that aluminium ra...

Re: Old Paint Problems
Water vapour within the compressed air when last resprayed, or sprayed in a damp environment / on a damp day is my guess. Wet compressed air is most likely imho.

Re: Headlining
Headlining replacement getting back on track at last. I've now pulled the trigger and bought a full 50 sqr ft hide from MarTrim on line for £230 inc. It arrived as a 9 ft roll ! Didn't realise cows were that big. Colour match to sand leather is good enough for the headlining. Sun visors will be done...
