Re: Coolant Pressure Testing Kit
I’m considering it, but I want the system leak free before I fill it with expensive coolant! It's worth it. Mine is still leak free. Stops the expansion tank corrosion too. I had reported higher oil temps using Evans, but since correcting ignition timing that seems to have corrected too. Just compl...

Spotted Woolly Edge Sev. M1 19th Dec
North of Rotherham. Around midday Tue 19th Dec 2023. Early 1983 narrow body. Pristine white with very shiny Toyota 14 inch alloys. Sounded nice too. We were in the Woodley Edge car park to your left, scoffing, but you didn't look our way ! AND, for a change we were in our pristine 89SE in red. The m...

Re: DRLs, daylight running lights
Good idea Bash. How did you pick up the connection from the fuse box? Did you use a fuse tap? I've never used one, but fancy the idea as long as there's no potential issue. I can't think of an issue for this application (low power DLR) but someone might? https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=752EB03...

Re: New Excel model coming soon
Jeff, what do Australian Lotus badges look like? I'm expecting my order to have British badges. It's been a long wait for mine btw. Original ETA was September. I'm assuming that Jeff is referring to the fact that all the models delivered so far seem to have their Lotus badge on upside down. D'oh! 🥴

Re: Dash refinishing
I like the idea of ebony! 8) In the guitar world, solid black ebony is now in short supply and so 'streaked' ebony is appearing on even high end guitars, like from Martin. The purists don't like streaked ebony guitar fingerboards. But for a dashboard, streaked ebony would look fantastic. A dark, mod...

Re: Dash refinishing
I hadn't thought about labels at that point, probably because the positions were second nature to me. Also, I never gave any consideration to the Elite's originality and how it would affect resale values. I look at it differently now. Btw. I found the window switches at the top of the console ('76 E...

Re: Dash refinishing
When I ran an Elite 501 as my only family car in the early eighties, I hated the fake wood dash. So much so that I soon planned to replace the main centre consol switch panel with black vinyl-covered aluminium. I got as far as drawing the switch positions on a sheet of aluminium then family life got...

Re: Green Eclat (Mathewsons Restoring Classics garage)
You must have developed those arm muscles driving an Excel without power assistance Peter! Or did you have a manual rack fitted? Yes Sierrra manual rack with a bespoke u/j extension by PNM. Weight wasn't too bad due to the stupidly high 3.6 turns lock to lock ... and there lies the REAL issue ... s...

Re: Green Eclat (Mathewsons Restoring Classics garage)
I spotted thazt car too and think it looks really good in that green colour and with the whitewall tyres. It also shows how much better Elite wheels fill out the arches with their greater negative offset when compared with the Excel. I wonder why Lotus decided to reduce wheel offset for the Excel H...

This is what I found too. Annoyed that MSoft omitted the embed tool from their app! But yes it's there when using a browser.

Re: 215 Tyres
According to TOYO Spec sheet for TR!s, a 205/50/15 has a width of 214mm so IF correct, then near the OEM. https://www.toyo.co.uk/tire/pattern/proxes-tr1 You're have a good point there Stu. Here is a part worn Toyo 205/50 versus an original UNWORN 215//50/15 Goodyear! https://onedrive.live.com/embed...
