Re: Diodes - and re-assurance please.

My Excel headlapm pods rose to allow you to wash the lights with them off. Then the sidelights come on and then the headlights, if I remember correctly.

Re: Excel gets some newspaper ink in the US.

Nice article although it was a little unfair saying that the rear seats were suitable for little kids only. I could fit in my rear seat with the front seat only a bit forwards from where I would have it for driving. Anyway, it's good to get the word out there.

Its a very slippery slope and I can see money behind this, manufacturers making money as sole suppliers at the expense of aftermarket.

Wasn't some legislation passed recently to open up the market to allow others to supply parts rather than just the OEM supplier?

Re: Car&Classic light green metallic '81 Elite

Looks tempting but needs work for cosmetics, Shows how prices have risen, though, as the asking price would have been £5,000 less a couple of years ago.

Re: Very early Excel for auction.

I really like the look of the early Excels. So much less fussy than the SE and the Speedline wheels look great. That example needs a lot of work, though.

Very nice. I like the pinstripes just above the cills. Emphasises the wedginess.

Ronnie Peterson Elite for sale

I just saw that Historic Auctioneers' 12th of March auction contains Ronnie Peterson's old Elite https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2022-03-12/cars/ref-2-1974-lotus-elite-502-ex-ronnie-peterson-dg// It has no reserve but I'm sure it will fetch a good price, perhaps a record because of its p...

Is this the video you mean, David? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOc7qmL-iME It's one of several in the series covering the chassis repair and may be worth a look for hints.

Re: New member - Excel SA

My Excel had cracks in the gel coat near the exhaust in the engine bay so I agree it's likely to be a heat issue rather than structural damage.

I saw this a few days ago. Sad news. Without her there would have been no Lotus. Condolences to the Chapman family.

Re: Nice Blue Elite in Harry's Garage Video

I watched this video this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to see the Elite outside Lotus' reception. I went to see the Emira at Lotus Silverstone when it was on tour. I liked it. It looks like a much more expensive car, has plenty of room inside and should be a good tourer as well as a good s...

White Excel in Wootton

Spotted a white, G-reg SE at about 8 o'clock on Tuesday morning. It was pulling onto Wootton Hope Drive. Anyone on here?
