Re: Rear radius arms and spacers
How far is the inner face of the arm mounting to the flat face of the chassis itself? Pete Inner face of arm mounting to chassis: 35mm. Other face is 46mm. EDIT: Just seen your post and thanks for measuring. So the issue isn't there; it's the other side of that triangle being a tiny bit shorter tha...

Re: Rear radius arms and spacers
Had the radius arm off the mounting but still a bit of a mystery to me. The snubber washer doesn't appear to be sitting off the flats (and therefore not as far "in" as it should be, mount is behind reinforcing plate as it should be etc. Took a couple of shocking quality photos but nothing is jumping...

Re: Rear radius arms and spacers
Logics good. Your lower rear link (26) is straight I assume. If it is bent, it would create toe out. Failing that, I think your stuck with it unless you made a bespoke 26. Tony Thanks. I think they're in good condition but will probably check over winter. Only other thing I could think of is if the...

Rear radius arms and spacers
Had a wheel alignment after some work on the front of my Eclat. Front is all good but the rear is towing out ever so slightly (10 minutes on the drivers side and 3 minutes on the passenger side). Correct toe in at the rear is 6.4mm or 1/4". The way you get toe in or out is removing spacers between t...

White Excel in Crigglestone (West Yorkshire)
Pleasantly surprised to see another Excel today in Crigglestone, on the outskirts of Wakefield in West Yorkshire this morning. Won't go into huge details as where it was parked up, but it was a very nice white example of the model, and the red leather interior was spot on. If it's anyone on here, yo...

"Our Client: Lotus" article from 1980
Thought this article might be of interest as I don't think it's been posted anywhere before. It's from my current employer's internal magazine and dates back to 1980. Always happy to share a bit of history of the marque :) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bmvL4Dz1mL8mAlh7UAIV9eXqg3FEuY_F (For those...

Brake shoes: minimum thickness?
Whilst I had the brake drum off on the passenger side today I took a look at the state of the drums. No oil contamination from the diff output seal leak, which I was pleased with. Wondering what the thickness of brand new shoes is, and what the thickness threshold is for changing to new ones. On the...

Re: Wiring setup confirmation needed
By default I always try to make addition switching on dashboards as SWITCHED EARTHS which operate relays very close to the device. This keeps the heavy gauge wiring to power the device short, and you can use the thinnest wiring, over the longest distance, carrying the least current, back to the das...

Re: Wiring setup confirmation needed
If you have a clock in the centre console at the same position as that of the Elite - you could use this for the relay switching live. Or, you could position the relay VERY near to the fans, loop the ignition positive (30) (fused 10 A fan supply) back to the relay switch terminal (86) -then run the...

Re: Wiring setup confirmation needed
Diagram looks OK. 1) Relay will draw fairly low current so a feed from the accessory circuit should be OK - and would also ensure that fans don't run after you switch off. Something like cigarette lighter or radio power? 2) Not sure about Eclats, but Excels have a handy common earth on the pedal bo...

Wiring setup confirmation needed
Well, after a slight hiccup yesterday at he end of a 180+ mile, 4-hour trip into London, I need to rewire my radiator fans as one of the wires ... well let's just say that it's now smoke and ashes! The setup I have in mind is below, and I was wondering if anyone could take a look, let me know if it ...
