Re: 215/50r15 back in production
If anyone is considering fitting a set of these Pirelli tyres, I have an identical, unused/unfitted one they can have free, for collection or courier, unfortunately I've had it since I bought the car, in 2000. So best used as a matching rear impact absorber, your choice. Jeff.

Re: Fuel pipe, tank to pump.
Hello Pete. My line goes, tank>pump>filter>flowlock>carbs. I think your lower pipe is filter>flowlock, but shorter than mine, (behave). The top one looks to have filter fittings, but doesn't look like the one going into my filter. I don't think gravity would push fuel to the carbs if I fed it into t...

Re: Fuel pipe, tank to pump.
Hello Pete, I've drained the tank, and need to run a pipe from a small (garden mower) tank to the pump to allow periodic warming up of the engine.
So need a length of pipe with an olive and the screw fitting to the pump, Thanks for offer of help. Jeff.

New OZ Excel alloys
Have been in garage loft tidying up, pulled out and decided to sell the 4 wheels I bought from a Lotus parts sale years ago. Offered first here before trying the EBay. 2 are still boxed up, 2 were fitted with tyres but were never used, apart from rolling the car round my garage, still have the boxes...

These would look great on the back of an Eclat/Excel, no idea if they'd fit? EBay ref. 274430361224. Jeff.

Re: 83 Excel from from Finland
I had an early Excel with bad boot droop. I found the springs,(if that's what they're called), were of narrow diameter, and were replaced by similar but thicker diameter ones, I believe when the boot had a spoiler fitted, hence heavier. I found on EBay a rough complete late boot for sale seriously c...

Re: Hazards & Indicators
The Lucas wing indicator is held on by two nuts on studs set into the unit, the drivers side nuts only getatable from the lotus position, and there is a panel with wiring connectors or fuses,(can't remember which), in the way behind the trim. The panel can be loosened(unbolted) but you'll still need...

In that episode of wheeler/dealers, they bought a pair of elan driveshafts from what was Kelvedon Motors, the sales lady was Pat Thomas's wife. I haven't been there for years, but heard Pat had sold his garage, and was concentrating on parts sales from his nearby home. I don't even know if he still ...

The open end on mine has a black plastic half doughnut shaped fitting, mushroom shaped in section, stalk wedged into tube. I couldn't see why the tube travelled across the bottom of the radiator, mine is ended vertically with a tiewrap to the right of the rad., no noticeable increase in noise, and m...

Re: New Lotus logo
The evolution of the badges is almost as interesting as that of the cars. Early ones had paint rather than enamel, the black was supposed to have been as respect for Jim Clark passing,(but that's debaitable), the Wickens early badge had to have Chapmans initials reinstated to quell a near riot as th...
