Re: 2 spoke steering wheel compatibility.
I had an Eclat many years ago and one of the things I remember is that the steering wheel felt really flimsy - ISTR that it was made from aluminium, but ought to have been steel, and the centre trim was fastened on separately. My current Elite wheel feels much stronger and has the rubber trim mould...

Re: Oliver Winterbottom estate auction
Oliver’s daughter Jane has just told me that there should be separate lots, so the statement on the website that there aren’t any is premature!

Re: Oliver Winterbottom estate auction
I have just double checked the auction details and it looks at though the whole collection is being sold as one lot, so unlikely the club could afford to purchase items. Here is the link: https://barryhawkins.atgportals.net/auc ... arry-10230

Oliver Winterbottom estate auction
On 30 August, Oliver Winterbottom’s collection of drawings, books, models and general career related items is being put up for auction. I think that we should, as a club, try to secure one or two significant items for the benefit of current and future members, rather than see them disappear into a p...

Re: Advance curves available for 123 distributor?
Looking at the timing in the service notes, you should use the following: Static timing: 10 degrees btdc Idle (hot) 950 rpm: 10 degrees btdc 2000 rpm: 18 degrees btdc 3000 rpm: 26 degrees btdc Ignition timing to be set at 28 degrees btdc at 3500-4000 rpm N.B. All above with vacuum disconnected. The ...

Re: Earth point locations
If it’s any help, on my Elite the earth point for headlamps, engine etc is on the offside inner wing in the engine compartment. It is bolted through the fibreglass to the chassis.

Re: Excel riviera
I wonder if it was to do with making a vinyl roof look ok. The Elite and Eclat have bright alloy trim defining the edges of the roof, while the Excel has more closely integrated body colour fibreglass trim, with which I don’t think a vinyl roof would look quite right. Of course Lotus didn’t have muc...
