Re: Recent owner, new member

4 in Aberdeen!? Must be driving with around with my eyes closed. Im in the bridge of don just up from the asda. Often seen going between there and near the exhibition centre. Shame I missed the rally, stuck on a boat just off of ireland at the moment. Looking forward to re-tuning the carbs when I ge...

Doh, forgot they were plastic fantastic. I fall under the category of a lotus virgin and also the nostalgic part. Mine indeed was a case of been through several owners each thinking they could keep it going until they had another problem. I bought mine knowing it was going to be hard work but it kee...

Re: Engine pre-heater.

Heat is something I dislike with a passion  When I get back this week I will post a photo of my engine bay. I have insulated my airbox with heat reflective coating and will be ceramically coating the inlet manifold whist it is off for an internal polish and smoothing. I have also had great suc...

Re: E10 (10% ethanol) fuel

Just spotted this thread and thought there may be a few things I could add to this. Ethanol is already used in tescos 99 octane "momentum" up to 15%. It is used as an octane booster. It goes off a lot quicker than shell optimax though. It has been used in their 99 octane fuel for at least the last 5...

Re: Why are Excel's so cheap and Esprits fetching premium pr

Supply and demand might cover this original question. There will come a point very very soon when people realise that they have scrapped perfectly salvagable Excels because they are worth more in bits. When the point comes that someone realises they are a rare breed, the price will skyrocket. I have...

Re: SAGA so far

I wanted to but couldn't log onto the forum. I have only just got on here by a chance email with someone I recognised on ebay. He managed to send an email to sort the problems with registration. I was living in Carleton Rode for about 4months just up from the Bunwell store. Where I was lodging had a...

Re: Engine pre-heater.

Interesting point. Something I will look into further down the line. Heat on the back of the pistons relates to something else I am looking into. Whilst accumulating certain parts for an engine build, I was going to look into ceramic coating of the piston crowns and cylinder head combustion face to ...

Engine pre-heater.

Just an idea for some of you. Whilst I was out in Canada, I noticed everyone over there has engine pre-heaters attached to the block or under the oil pans. It is a necessity over there due to the cold temps. As everyone knows, the most damage is done to an engine when cold. When I returned back to t...

SAGA so far

Having wanted an Excel for a long time. It came the time to look for one before crimbo. I bought the yellow one on ebay just before crimbo. It was massively overpriced!! Doors dropped, leaking interior, no interior fan or heater, no cambelt change, cracked tyres..... engine bay needed tidying...igni...

I have a piece of exhaust that may be handy for someone doing summer repairs. I will put it on here before sticking it on ebay. so if anyone wants to either pick it up or make me a sensible offer before it goes onto ebay, please do. The part no is SJ089S0006. It is a stainless steel centre box from ...

Good day all Kieran Here. Been the proud owner of a 1987 lotus excel SE since christmas eve. Bought the yellow one on ebay a while back. Low milage but a hell of lot of work needed - she is getting there now though. Was previously in the Norwich area until 3months ago, now moved up to Aberdeen. It i...
