Re: How do you buy an Excel?

Driveability is better off-cam, not least due the fact the higher static compression ratio of 10.9:1 works well with the SE cams (which have similar timings to the Ford BDA). The 0-60 times don't tell the whole story. If you want to extract even more out of the SE then bolt-on items work well. I fit...

There's a video online somewhere of a very fast Bond Bug (straight line only).

The steel pressure/return pipes can corrode and leak. Might be easiest to remove the bonnet to take a better look.

This ^^ .
Happened to me on Aran 17 years ago. Terminal leak left me stranded.
High pressure line corroded. Expensive off the shelf replacement.

Just to say a big thumbs up 👍 to Sheep Farmers. I've lived in Swaledale for 37 years to-date and have developed huge respect for the hill farmers here. Would not want to see them disappear ..and I've been a veggie for 32 or those 37 years. I do still miss my dead mum's Sunday lamb with mint sauce mi...

Re: Idle Jets

But the OE idle jets do work on my 89SE and others? (sTD dizzy). Did you try adding more advance to the map in the region below 50% TPS, especially around the stumble rpms? I run fully mapped with TPS on my Clan with twin DHLAs. I mapped a lot of advance at part throttle at 'off cam' rpms to get smo...

Re: Distributor

More to the advance curve than the springs. The working range is governed by a stop on the rotating cam spindle, the radial position of the stop determines max advance. Eg. If the stop occurs radially at 12 degrees then the max advance will be 24 degs plus the static setting. The springs also work a...

I also find that a lot of aftermarket exhaust rubbers perish and fail really quickly. Are the poly ones any better?

Pete
Good thinking. I'll try some polys before next MOT coming up soon.

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

The clearances where just right on mine until the rubber hangers sagged a few years later.

It now clonks on the drive shaft only after a long run when the rubbers have warmed up and sagged further. 🙁

For forum newbies that might visit these threads later, I'll toss in other options. Alternative options to idle/progression enrichment to correct a progression stumble, include optimising ignition health and ignition advance tune (weaker, stoichiometric, mixtures need a strong spark with plenty of a...

Is that modded for ram-air oil cooling?
My 89SE rad tray doesn't look like that.
MY90+ redirected air inlet - before the rad . Comes in over the top via a slight cut mod
Ah!
