Re: Coolant leak - otter switch
The fan switch is an M22 x 1.5 thread , readily available on Ebay. FWIW, Car Builder part Numbers were MOIN32 and FANSW5 , but will be cheaper on Ebay. Tony, thanks for that Car Builder heads-up 🙂. However, a quick browse through the range of Car Builder fan switches comparing to Service Notes valu...

Re: New member - Excel SA
Master craftsman. Half the battle is knowing which and how much repair medium to use for each situation, and having the full range of media to hand when the time is right. I once had a go at redesigning a fibreglass headlamp pod for the Clan without great success. I couldn't get the shape right and ...

Would the later version with the screw in sensor not give what you need, or something like these, ian. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=32mm++inline+housing&_sacat=0&_odkw=32mm+Sensor+Hose+inline&_osacat=0&_sop=15&LH_PrefLoc=1 https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i...

Re: How to make gaskets
Less sophisticated than your method, but I too make my own gaskets. I don't make gaskets that are thickness critical like the need for exactly 19 thou separation between my Clan's cylinder head and block, but sump cambox and thermostat gaskets, for example, are game. I use 1 mm thick gasket card (on...

Re: Coolant leak - otter switch
I seem to recall that my pressure cap setting was only 10 psi (before converting to Evans @ 0 psi). Not sure what's OE these days (is it in the service notes?), but 16 psi seems high. My other wedge (Clan) used only 4psi before converting that, too, to Evans @ 0 psi. I know some modern cars running ...

There's SCREWS!!??
THAT must be why mine won't pull off!

Re: New Excel model coming soon
Be very careful with that superglue Peter. The fumes from super glue can fog clear plastic. If I were you I'd apply masking tape to the windscreen to protect it and apply the glue to the broken aerial rather than the aerial base. Thanks Kev. Yes, I was thinking similarly. Mask roof and screen. Hold...

Re: New Excel model coming soon
I've now broken off the roof aerial! 😱 I tried to separate the bottom of the car from it's black plastic shipping cradle to look for the build number, but it's stuck fast. Repeated clumsy attempts resulted in the broken aerial😭 Out with the superglue once I've calmed down. So how have others removed...

Re: New Excel model coming soon
So when you scrape the old number plate off, does the yellow and white backgrounds scrape off too, or just the black number? Ie. What are you left with?

Re: New Excel model coming soon
Looks great.
My red one arrived last week. Immediately bought new reg plates off eBay. Still waiting for them.
Was going to just stick over the top of old, but now you've set the bar high so I'll have to scrape back too.

Re: New Excel model coming soon
I wonder how difficult it would be to convert to a pre 88 model ? Bash Bonnet vents and spoilers. Well the cars are basically a lump of body filler so converting the bonnet might be easily done with a Dremel and body filler. It's the spoilers that might be most problematic? You'd not want to pay fu...

Look at model shops online. They make scale number plates https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354146657032?var=623507581422&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338723872&toolid=20006&customid=Gy3UzZMbAAAAFrocIR4L1vRfOVhBAAAAAA That's brilliant! Thank you. Ideal solution. I'll wait until the car ...

Re: New Excel model coming soon
Just paid for mine in response to their 'now in stock' invoice\email. Has anyone any bright ideas about producing number plate stickers\transfers of ones own reg to replace the stock reg plate. I have an electronic dymo tape machine which uses either white or yellow tape, and the font size is select...
