Re: Is my power steering working?
I'd go with pump issue too. After similar intermittent heaviness, renewing mine with a NOS from SJS restored it completely. And btw, my rack was new when the intermittent heaviness was present.

Re: Emira vs Elite
It's the cDA that really counts. The Emira body design relies somewhat on porosity which helps reduce the frontal area factor A. The cd is a coefficient of surface slipperiness. Big SUVs can have a very low cd but the huge frontal area (A) destroys the advantage. That’s right Peter - I’d be interes...

Re: Heater Air Control Box
Ive repaired a few things with superglue and bicarbonate of soda, try it, just put a small amount of bicarb in a small pile and drop some superglue on it. When its set hit it with an hammer, you will be surprised how hard it is. Bash I'm a guitar player, so I've used super glue for all sorts of rep...

Re: Oil drain down from cam carriers
In a healthy engine with a vacuum-tight breather system, there should be slight negative pressure in the crank case at higher revs , especially at part throttle. This should help drain oil back to the sump.

Re: The Lotus Sprint and its wheels (Egg Clair)
I hadn't realised that the Eclat (and by extension probably the Excel too) had so much more luggage space than the Elite - as a pseudo-estate-ish car I'd have expected the Elite to be more gifted in that department. That said, I did take the opportunity at the NEC in November to compare the Elite t...

Re: Rover V8 build log
Wow! That's not going to blow off! Worth the wait in the end and you'll save time and a small fortune not depending upon pros to make hoses.

Re: Representing the third generation….
Same thing happened to the Imp Club Forum. FB gained traction and the forum is now a ghost-town. The common denominator is that it's too hard to post photos on the forum and dead easy to do it on FB. Also, there are no 'forum rules' on facebook and trading parts (with pictures) is MUCH easier on FB,...

Re: Representing the third generation….
Calm down guys. My views are clear on what I think about facebook, and that I wasnt in favour of it. I was a little saddened to read that its now thought to be the home of the club. I also wasnt really in favour of the grand tourers title either. I agree that there are many outlets for Esprits, the...

Yeah, yours definitely looks right (and a very neat job you've done there too).
I'm going to source new ferules for the 3/8 hose. Yet another delay!

Re: Rover V8 build log
Good info there, Marcus. Why is the hose fitting scene so confusing!! I've now modified 6S M20 unions (60 degree conical metric fitting with 'o'ring') to fit my oil cooler project after failing to procure the correct aftermarket fitting from the usual sources. I had to file the 6S cone into a parall...

Re: Rover V8 build log
Thanks Bash, but project has stalled yet again. Chinese fittings arrived today. Wrong size! Another £15 down the drain. Fittings supplied are 8.5 mm OD not the 10 mm OD I thought I was ordering.
