Re: Lucas distributor lower cover
Links not working Tanz, but searching on Distributor on the SJ site comes up with a flash shield, which I think is the part being discussed here.
Mines missing also ( started to break up so I left out). Doesn't seem to affect the running of my car.

Re: Steering Rack - Why rigid mounted not isolation bush
Had decided the rubber bushes were heading for the bin, but became a no brainer anyway. Bolt for the bush was M10. Chassis hole and bolt is M12.
Didn't take a lot to remove. Only the inner sleeve was steel, so pulled out easily with a long bolt and a socket to draw into.

Re: Riviera
Not convinced it sold. Price never seemed to move.
This cars been looking for a long term owner for at least 5 years. Was in an auction back in 2019 but didn't sell, then was trying to be sold mid last year for around the £8.5 k. I think it sold as log book shows last issue mid last year.

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!
I've had issues with the Power steering all the while I've owned the car. Slow speed manoeuvring with engine revs below about 2000, and often there was no assistance. I found a Saginaw Steering pump on Ebay so fitted and things were no better - Actually worse. The initial fluid drained out was "blac...

Steering Rack - Why rigid mounted not isolation bush
For reasons I'll go into elsewhere, I've had my rack rebuilt, but the main casing was beyond help, so it was rebuilt with a different second hand casing the company had kicking around. On collection I note it has isolation bushes pressed into the mounting points. For some reason, Lotus used two top ...

Re: Is my power steering working?
This winters project started with a change of steering pump. Made no difference, was actually worse, which I now know was down the the pressure relief valve in the new pump sticking very soon after fitting. Drained down the fresh fluid and could immediately identify there was metal contamination in ...

Re: Front Brake Caliper seals
Could be worth cleaning out the bore the rubber sleeve sits in. On mine was very rusty, effectively making it smaller, so after inserting the rubber boot, the ID was small and the steel sleeve very tight.
Don't over do it though, otherwise you'll get a bit of play in the lower caliper mount

Re: Front Brake Caliper seals
Bryan They look correct to me to do the lower slide. You only need one for each caliper. There's a different certina bush for the top slide with has a metal ring bonded to it and presses into the caliper. Did you see the sliding steel sleeve on the web site you found? Service kits from Big Red don't...

Auction at NEC restoration show
We've got another Excel to critique at the NEC show in March.
Currently on eBay at £10k. Not sure if it is intended to withdraw from auction if it sells before.
