What we need are cards similar to those the Esprit owners use. Nice pic of a car then a message about You have been spotted by a memeber of LotusExcel.net, at....... on ...... Are you a member? If so .... If not please give us a look or call on...... That way a lot more owners will get to know of th...

Might as well stick with H4
Those bulbs that claim to "look like HID" or quote some colour in kelvin in an attempt to make you think they're good are far from it. If you want a legal upgrade the £10-£15 upgrade option is OK and does work to some extent. Get some good quality Philips bulbs that are X-Treme, or one of the other ...

So what was the outcome
Mark (mds666) just wanted to start up the manifold discussion again after having mine rolling roaded today (actually it has taken 4 days as new parts were required), The two places that my engine was being strangled was at the air intake, old box gone and new K&Ns fitted...........the other is the ...

curious
You say with it shorted to the starter it would run and turn off but not start. Do you mean the starter wouldn't turn over, or it turned over but wouldn't fire? If it runs, then you can generally ignore the ignition module, dissy etc. You would then need to start looking for where power isn't gettin...

coil or starter?
You say you've had to short to the starter. is that to get the starter to turn or to supply power to the other parts of the car? Assuming it's the latter, Is it the Lucas system? If so, have you got power to the coil? Have you got a spark at the coil? If Yes then No, I'd suggest looking at the dissy...

slotted / drilled Vs flat
The slots and holes are designed to remove dust form the surface more quickly, this can help braking, but only really if the pads give lots of dust.
With good low dust pads it can actually reduce braking efficiency because there is less surface are for the pads to touch.

You may see me around
I live the other side of Norwich to you, work for RBS, so you probably know where there's one of our offices a mile or so from you. Also my Brother lives near to Salhouse, so you may see me around that way. The local Esprit guys are planning to go for a curry (or something) on the 20th, if you want ...

2 sorts of valvoline 20w50
I paid approx £25 last time, that's the synthetic 20W50 Valvoline, but there is another mineral based one , I think that's the VR1 oil. i don't like the "classic" oils, or a lot of non-main brand stuff as it tends to not be as good at wear protection (the SJ, SK, etc type spec), or just doesn't stat...

Solenoid?
Is it the wire from the ignition switch to the solenoid (white with red from memory) that's constantly live, or the one out of the solenoid to the starter (shrouded in black cloth type material, only an inch or so long) that's constantly live? If it's the former, then no advice other than look at th...

I'm back again
This time, I do own an Excel. I gave in to the desire and bought an Excel for the winter (better to drive in ice & snow than a 300hp Turbo Esprit). It's a bit rough, paint work has peeling lacquer, exhaust is blowing, brakes seem better no wthat I've put a couple of windings of tape round the servo ...

when re-lining the roof, don't
Do it in bad weather outside. Why? because you close the door, and if you're stupid..... You don't open windows. I know I almost passed out because I forgot to let the fumes out when I was applying the replacement lining (not from Woolies but Zebedee fabrics on the South coast). It does make the fin...

Haven cars
I know the car has gone, but Tom will undoubtably have more (Tom being the proprietor of Haven cars). I purchased my Europa from him, I wasn't overjoyed, but learned from the experience, 5 speed which was difficult to locate gears turned out to be 4 speed with very sloppy gears, the sub fram was rot...

Introducing myself- better late than never
Hi everyone. First, the confession. I don't own an Excel, or an Eclat, or even an Elite. I used to, then I part exchanged it and obtained an Esprit Turbo. I plan to rid myself of the Naturally Aspitated S3 Esprit soon, and who knows, maybe purchase another Excel. I'm in Norwich, I used to own A489 K...

Register of Excels ?
Just thinking that if we have a database of owners, locations, models etc it may help people with issues / questions etc. I wondered what the other ( there must be a lot more people out there) 19 think, I know we can see locations by the member list, but the other info isn't going to be as manageabl...
