HI,
The top of the instrument binnacle on my SE is distorted above the heater vents by the centre console. While it's not too bad I would like to fix this. Is it possible to reshape the binnacle or is it easier just to replace it with another one, assuming I can find a good one?
Thanks
Carl

Agreed value
HI, I need to get valuation for my Excel in the UK to set up an agreed value with my insurers (Carole Nash), it seems they were not happy with my request for £12k, in spite of the car just having a £6k+ respray. Is Club Lotus the best place to go? With Excel values finally rising I want to protect m...

Re: A great idea or absolute madness?
We are taking our Excel to three car shows in France this year, two in Normandy and one in Brittany. We have taken our 1972 Elan to numerous car shows in France and Switzerland over the years travelling on our own (and not in a group) and the most important thing is to have have proper breakdown ins...

Re: Vacuum piping at back of carburettors
I’m not sure on date it changed, I suspect it was when the vacuum controlled valve in the air intake was added, but earlier SE Excels did only have 1 take off at each carb. I had noticed the extra valve on the air intake on later cars, I suspect it might be when the bonnet vents were changed back t...

Vacuum piping at back of carburettors
Hi, Is it normal for the Dellorto carbs to have a vacuum pipe (advance retard ?) coming out of the rear? Mine does with the two carbs connected in series. I only noticed this as one pipe had become disconnected and the engine felt a little 'lumpy'? The picture of Excel engine bays I could find on th...

Felt/Brush weatherstrip on inside of side window glass
HI, I am trying to source some replacement weatherstrip to go inside the doors to rub up against the door glass? The stuff thats fitted has ripped and seems to just be stuck onto the top inside of the door panels? Should this just be stuck on? The weatherstrips I have come across in the past have ha...

Re: Passenger door
Thanks all,
Now sorted although I had to take the door trim off to get at everything. Seems the whole lock was gummed up and a bit of WD40 seemed to fix the problem..

Passenger door
Hi, any ideas?? My passenger side door closes but will not lock? The key turns part way but not all the way. If you push the locking mechanism in the door with a screwdriver everything seems to work. I have tried adjusting the position the metal 'hoop' in the bodywork but this does not seem to make ...

Excel wiper arms
Hi,
The wiper mounting pin on my Excel is a bit of a lose fit so the wiper blade can 'wobble'. Is it possible to replace just the tip of the wiper arm or do I need to buy a complete arm? If so does anybody know if the arm was used on any other cars?
Thanks
