We have this available as an "off the shelf" product - comes with 2 colours of filler and plenty of glue!
https://qbond.com/
I find that I'm generally disappointed with the ability of superglue to stick things together....

Re: New member - Excel SA
Time for an update in case people started worrying that I'd moved my build diary across to Facebook  Things have been slow, I did get sidetracked by the solar installation - maybe mildly obsessed by getting things working as efficiently as I could would be more accurate....it's all up and worki...

Re: New member - Excel SA
Phew, 2 months has gone past since my last post....it hasn't been completely idle! Some more body work has been done, but not much, and nothing much for the last month or so. The state of our electricity supply has been an ongoing issue, and it seems to be getting worse. I decided it was time to inv...

Re: New member - Excel SA
I can imagine planishing, like most things, is an art that takes some time to get good at, and it's not like you can fill it up, or sand it down and then paint it! I'd like the body work to be finished in the next 3 months or so ( so read at least 6....) I still have some work to do under the car, a...

Re: New member - Excel SA
And back to bodywork. The new sander works quite well, it moves forwards and backwards with much speed and power. One needs to make sure that your fingers don't move too far forward of the front grip - your fingers get hammered really hard in the time it takes to remove them  Lesson learnt! T...

Re: New member - Excel SA
Gaffer tape!! That's what would have been used previously during the old repairs if they had bothered to reinstall the cover..... The two left hand panels I have are shaped slightly differently where the cut out was made, it looks like I will need to get the door internals installed first to...

Re: Wanted : top front spring seat.
I fear you may be referring to me  My expert opinion would be to get one that somebody else has wasted a lot of time and effort making already! However, I do confess to having this problem lurking in the back of my brain somewhere if/when height issues relating to the suspension crop up :D At...

Re: New member - Excel SA
I did have a quick look this morning, but feared going down another rabbit hole to fix a problem I shouldn't have! I see some systems have wavy staple type wires that are melted into the plastic, and then you have different filaments for different plastics....I will probably fill the hole with a pie...

Re: New member - Excel SA
Ha, didn't see I'd mis-typed brother originally - bet he was feeling bothered when the box arrived :D Plastic welding is not something I've been successful at before - maybe a soldering iron isn't the correct tool for the job....I foresee a fiberglass patch on that panel in the near future. With all...

Re: New member - Excel SA
So to change things up a bit from all the body work, I've been shopping.... I had a bother-in-law going over to the UK who made the mistake of saying he was coming back with a light suitcase :D Lotus Bits are fairly challenging to deal with from afar, but I did finally manage to get hold of them via...

Re: New member - Excel SA
Probably not! Mine is all accident damage that was either fixed badly or not fixed at all! And when you fix suspension damage badly you're just inviting the next crash....

Re: New member - Excel SA
Bodywork fibreglassing continues.... I ended up re-cutting the the joint between the top and bottom halves of the body just above the front bumper as there was a large variation on the "thickness" of that front edge that irked me! You can see below if you look closely that the edge is inconsistent. ...

I did a bit of experimenting - got hold of an M3 stud - it is tiny! I then also got an M4 stud..... The M3 is just too small for me - the comparison of the two is below - they are available in different lengths so the overall length is not an issue https://bl3301files.storage.live.com/y4mWD5tEzk4l4Z...
