Re: Factory fit alarm?

Found it! A Linwood "Keyless" alarm cleverly disguised behind the fuse box. Easily disconnected and removed.
I would post a picture, but its far too hard to do it in this forum.

Re: Factory fit alarm?

Mine (91) has a Sigma system, very similar to that fitted to Subarus. The brain for mine is in the drivers kick so you might want to start looking there. the siren was mounted in the engine bay when it was connected, doesn't work now. The immobilizer portion still works and acts as a keyless entry ...

Factory fit alarm?

Guys Before I start tearing the car apart, would our 1985 MY car have had a factory alarm? If so, where would it be located? We've had the car two years. Never knew it had an alarm. It got very wet inside during the storm and now whenever we touch the ignition, it goes off-definitely an alarm as it ...

Re: NEC Classic Car & Restoration Show 27-29 March 2020

As you know car clubs get into the show free but this depends on both commercial stand sales and ticket sales. In 2019 the show used all of halls 3, 4 and 5. This year it is only using part of Hall 3, a significant reduction in space. For the car club presence to grow it will depend on the rest of ...

Re: 2.2 Elite Cam Cover Breather - lost airbox spigot

At some point I appear to have lost the brass(?) spigot from the airbox where the cam cover breather pipe connects up. I have no idea when, or where, it went, but I currently have a hole in the airbox the wrong side of the filter and an open pipe hanging from the oil filler neck. Would it cause me ...

Just feeding back on this-it was the fag lighter-the element was stuck in the socket and shorting to earth. Disconnected it and all fine now!

Seat diaphragm fitting-anyone done it?

Guys The seat diaphragm on our drivers seat collapsed some time ago. I managed to get a new original replacement and have started to try to fit. Seat is apart, old diaphragm off, cover connected via wires to the new diaphragm. Next step is to connect the diaphragm hooks to frame. The problem is that...

Re: Routine check on car.

The Lotus handbook actually advises owners to never use car covers as they promote damp and inhibit the airflow through the car.
Ours lives outside and is never covered.

Re: NEC Classic Car & Restoration Show 27-29 March 2020

We have a number of expenses to cover as a club, now that we don't have the parts and merchandise revenue. These include the cost of hosting the forum until and unless we can move to another platform - I'm trying to engage Chris Hopper, our technical administrator, in a dialogue so we can decide ho...

Re: NEC Classic Car & Restoration Show 27-29 March 2020

Given the relatively lukewarm interest in the show (with apologies to those who have volunteered their cars) it is probably wise not to attend this year. Whilst I appreciate the reasons for this Richard, I should warn you that it will be difficult to get back in in the future if we withdraw at this...
