Guys
Our early dash car (TR7 switches) needs a new main light switch. The old one is hanging out at the bottom but seems stuck fast at the top.
Is it necessary to remove the switch panel completely to replace it? Does something hold it from the back?
Cheers.

Re: Headlamp pods-are there different types?
Thanks Pete. Ours being a "crossover" 1985 MY DOES have the adjustable bump stops because we have the Lucas motors. I think we need to get a pair of matched pods from a car of the same age to be sure. Pretty certain that our odd pod is not from the right age of car.

Re: Headlamp pods-are there different types?
Hi Pete. Not yet resolved no- My pods are both flat topped but I'm convinced they are a different shape. They look fine down, but definitely wonky up. Detail pics of the differences might help me to track down the problem if you don't mind?

Re: Whats in the rev limiter? How does it limit revs?
Following advice from here, we disconnected our limiter two years ago and fitted an Omex. It lasted six months before making the car misfire. In our case all ignition parts were new so we knew it wasn't the car at fault. We sent it back under warranty and they refunded as it tested faulty. We now ru...

Re: Site updates
Hi John, See Chris Hopper's reply in 'Website outages and planned upgrades:' " I will gradually fix things like the emoji's (no idea why they aren't working!) and will look into the image uploading options. Bandwidth still comes at a cost, so I can't promise anything." Relevant thread is at https:/...

Re: Choke cable fitting
The clip can be made to fit. I think the original fit was just the plastic wings but over the years, the hole in the dash enlarges a bit and it pulls through. I bought one of the clips, pulled it open slightly and wedged it behind the dash immediately between the plastic wings and dash surface. Its ...

Re: Headlamp pods-are there different types?
The parts manual gives different part numbers for pre- and post-'86 Excels. No idea about Eclat or Elite, but I'd anticipate them being different to Excel (but maybe not to each other). Thanks-interesting. I'm assuming that if there was no physical difference then the part number would be the same....

Do we know what the differences are Pete?Pete Boole wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 17:59The Elite/Eclat are definitely different to the Excel. I haven't seen an early TR7-activated Excel pod to know if there is any difference between early/late Excels.

Headlamp pods-are there different types?
Guys Is there a difference between the fibreglass headlight pods on our cars-i.e. Eclat, Elite, early Excel, widebody Excel? Our car is a very early widebody. It has clearly been heavily messed with during it's life and whilst repairing the bodged headlamp lift mechanisms, I have discovered that one...

Nice to see some updates/revamping of the forum. Disappointed to see no improvements to the ability to post photos, which has always been clunky and inconvenient. is anything going to be done about that?
Thanks.

Re: Door hinge lubrication
The only real answer is beam removal and fitting of a stainless steel pin from SJ. Done the drivers side on ours already and have bought the pin to do the passenger side during lockdown.

I think it highly likely that the show will be cancelled this week with possible restrictions on large events. Even if it does go ahead, many clubs and traders have pulled out on health and safety grounds.

I always thought I would answer either Esprit or Europa, but I have had chance to sit in both this year and I had real trouble getting in and out of either! I'll stick with the Excel, which is far more practical.

Still think the picture hosting is clunky and counter-intuitive. I have told those in the know, but nothing changes.
