The Lotus Sprint and its wheels (Egg Clair)

I would like to share with you November 1976 Road and Track - a magazine which is produced the other side of the pond. The 2nd paragraph refers to the citizens of this country struggling to say Éclat, and called the car Egg Clair. Obviously, egg clair does start with an E, which is a good start, but...

Re: Autocar supplement 1979

Magazine articles at this time seemed to contain a lot more facts, which is really useful when when is trying to obtain knowledge about our cars.
Today, they seem to speculate on new car launches in 6 months time.
Well done for taking the effort to print the article for us all to see. Marcus

Re: Rover V8 build log

I had a lot of fun and games when I fitted my air con. I have the serpentine belt set up, so it will be very different. One of my first problems was understanding the pipe sizes and what No 6, 8 and 10 mean - see photo with an explanation. I recall that my donar Excel had No 6 fittings, which I am t...

Re: My Excel to be featured in Classic & Sportscar

Shaun mentions that Playgirl have been in contact with him - well I can't match that, but as an alternative, there is The Lotus Position which is the headline in the 1981 Penthouse magazine. I have just put the whole article in the "History and Memorabilia" section in which the Lotus Position is exp...

The Lotus Position - Penthouse Magazine 1981

Under the heading of "The Lotus Position" I copy the article from Penthouse magazine date 1981. I bought the reprint from eBay many years ago, but I note on the cover that there are stamps relating to the Patent Library MVMA Detroit - the mind boggles as to what was seeking patent protection!!!! htt...

Agree - they look great - I hope that they will easily fit inside the cars to get them to and from the various shows.

We will soon be needing some "red carpet" to finish the stand off. Marcus

The Lotus Elite Launch - Press Release 14 May 1974

It is difficult to believe that it was nearly 50 years ago that the Elite was launched to the world on the 14th May 1974. There is reference to the fact that it took three years to develop and cost Lotus £750,000 ( a Google search inform me that £100 in 1974 are equivalent to £969 in 2021) so this e...

Re: Elite on My Owners @ Lotus

Looks stunning - and to think that this is very nearly a 50 year old design. Lovely to see cars with a small frontal area. In the right perspective, as displayed in one of the photos on the webpage, the front of the Elite is one of the most beautiful cars ever!! (beauty is in the eyes of the beholde...
